Recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

People should call 1-877-KYSAFE1 to report suspected abuse, neglect and exploitation of elders. Kentuckians can join one of the state's 24 Local Coordinating Councils on Elder Abuse or LCCEAs.

Frankfort, KY -. (June 15, 2021) - Gov. Andy Beshear, Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman and Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary Eric Friedlander joined other state leaders, organizations statewide and national and global organizations on Tuesday to recognize the 16th annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Kentucky leaders placed purple flags in the English Gardens on the State Capitol grounds as a public reminder to immediately report suspected abuse, neglect and exploitation of older adults.

Onie V. Keltner, 90, of the Bridgeport community of Metcalfe County passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Metcalfe Health Care in Edmonton.

Mrs. Keltner was a loving wife and mother. She was a member of the Elm View Methodist Church.

TheatreFest! to present Steel Magnolias

TheatreFest! the Summer Theatre at Lindsey Wilson College will present Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias in black box style July 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, & 25.

This beautiful and wonderfully written story by Robert Harling is directed by the Artistic Director of TheatreFest! Robert Brock, with Brenna Mullennex (LWC Theatre Alum) of Louisville, KY, Gretchen Miles (LWC Theatre Major) of Columbia, KY, Tommie Saragas of Columbia, KY, Erika Finley (LWC Theatre Alum) of Bowling Green, KY, Hannah Coyt of Bowling Green, KY, and Leigh Dews of Columbia, KY.

Lindsey Wilson Sports Information earns NAIA-SIDA awards

The Lindsey Wilson Sports Information Department earned six national honors for the annual NAIA-SIDA Publication and Media Contest, officials at the national office announced on Monday.

Lindsey Wilson collected awards in four categories, including COVID-19 Features, Gameday Infographics, Feature Videos and Call of the Year. In total, Lindsey Wilson garnered six mentions - all coming inside the top-6 of 10 spots -- in the publication and media contest.

The Blue Raider staff for the 2020-21 season consisted of Assistant Athletics and Sports Information Director Chris Wells, Assistant Sports Information Director Chris Coombs along with Sports Information Interns Brady Budke, Kyle Jackson, Kyrin Mayfield and Joel Snyder.

Temporary traffic signals added in Burkesville

SOMERSET, Ky. - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 8 advises motorists that starting June 16, the KY 90 bridge (mile point 14.1) over the Cumberland River in Burkesville will be temporarily reduced to one lane for cleaning and painting.

Temporary traffic signals will be in place on the east and west bound approaches for the lane closure. In addition, the speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph through the work zone and lane widths reduced to 12'.

Library in Edmonton begins changes for construction

After careful planning, the Metcalfe County Public Library Board of Trustees and staff are excited to announce that an updated facility is becoming a reality for Metcalfe County.

The project involves a new addition and renovation to the current facility, which will expand library services for all of Metcalfe County.

Driver licensing services offers more choice

An online renewal opportunity will now be offered and Columbia is named among regional offices in Kentucky for extended driver license services.

Frankfort, KY - Gov. Andy Beshear today announced that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has launched a service to drive Kentucky into a new era of driver licensing - online renewal of driver's and motorcycle licenses.

"This is a dramatic step forward for customer convenience - the ability to go online to renew your driving credential and save yourself a trip to a licensing office if you don't otherwise require in-person service," Gov. Beshear said. "Modernizing state services puts Kentuckians in the driver's seat to choose how they want to be served and make a Better Kentucky."

Bro. Eldon Rucker, 74, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, died Friday, June 11, 2021 at his home after an illness. He was born January 22, 1947, in Mt. Eden, Kentucky, to the late John Mason and Irene Whitehouse Rucker.

Bro. Rucker was a minister of the Gospel of Christ, ministering and serving in several area Christian Churches, and the time of his retirement, he was Minister and member of Tabernacle Christian Church in Adair County.
