Letter: Later than October 1961

Rickie Williams writes:
The greenish colored car in the foreground is a Chevrolet Corvair. That particular front end design was not sold in dealerships prior to October 1961. The fact that the paint on the car is far from shiny leads me to believe the car was not exactly brand new.

Letter: Lovedale Church probably early 1960s

Joe Hare writes:
I believe the was taken in the early 60s. The green car on the right appears to be 62-63 Chevy Corvair. Trucks are mid 50s and the other car is probably a 55-57 Chrysler product.

LCDHD: Please be patient

LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 1/22/2021

By Amy Tomlinson
Lake Cumberland District Health Department

We spend a great deal of our time of late explaining to people why there is not enough vaccine available in our area for everyone who wants one to get one. Here is an article that helps to explain the answer: COVID-19 Vaccine, Patience is Needed.

Several people who contacted us are very frustrated. While this is understandable, we ask for patience and to keep in mind:
  • 1) We at the local health departments have no control over the federal contract with CVS and Walgreens,
  • 2) The state Department for Public Health and the Governor's Office, not the local health departments, has control over how much vaccine is shipped to providers in our district,
  • 3) Currently, the state is only getting about 50,000 doses per week to spread across a population of about 4.5 million,
  • 4) The local health departments have little influence on how any providers, other than the health departments, utilize the vaccine they receive, and
  • 5) We post everything we know about the status of the vaccination efforts daily in our Daily Brief, so tying up our phone lines and staff with questions will produce no more information than simply reading our Daily Brief.

Spears encourages servant leadership in CU chapel service

By Ariel C. Emberton

Campbellsville, KY - "A Tiger won't let anything get in its way, and I ask you to be like that Tiger. Do not let these major challenges stop you from being the person and the servant leader that we know you can be," Dr. H. Keith Spears, acting president at Campbellsville University, said at the university's first chapel service of the semester Jan. 13.

Spears, who has been employed at Campbellsville University since 2009, was appointed by the Board of Trustees to step into the role of acting president after the retirement of Dr. Michael V. Carter and his wife, Debbie Carter.

Letter: chiming in on the marijuana question

Dave Rosenbaum
I have been following comments on CM regarding the legalization of wacky weed, let me chime in.

There is certainly a very real need for an addition legal intoxicant so that our highways will be even safer. - DR
