Letter: fighting the good fight against cancer

Billy Joe Fudge writes:
Mitzi, in our community and far beyond, your name will be forever synonymous with "grit and guts".

Your determination to "fight the good fight" in the face of insurmountable odds is an inspiration to us all and will remain so in perpetuity.

You have answered the age old question, "what happens when an immovable object is struck by an unstoppable force"? The answer is "the object moves"!

You've allowed us all to see that the human spirit fueled by a faith in God and the future, can and will move mountains.

Thanks for allowing us to ride with you during this journey!

Letter in response to Mitzi Bault shares a heart-felt thank you

2020-10-18 - South Carolina - Photo from George Kolbenschlag.
Photographer George Kolbenschlag writes, "Vonnie’s and my great granddaughter, Taylor, who like many students in this era of Covid-19, is working on her homework. She lives in Charleston, SC. and the schools are all on-line there at present. Vonnie sent her that purse hanging on her shoulder. It was my mother’s, Taylor apparently became seriously attached to it and carries it with her all the time. Taylor lives with our granddaughter, Sara, her sister, Ellie, and dad, Ted.

Mitzi Bault shares a heart-felt thank you

"I have learned that we are not promised a minute. Don’t put anything off for tomorrow is not a given..."

By Mitzi Bault

This is a thank you note to everyone for all the special care, calls, notes, prayers and food. Those of you who know me, know that I've been battling cancer for over a dozen years.

I've been told I have only weeks to live more times than I can count. That message has once again been given to me in 2020 when recently I was hospitalized again.

I didn't expect to wake up, nor become able to communicate again, nor be able to sit up, or even stand again. But very slowly I find I can. I'm beginning to eat a little and gaining a bit of weight back.

I can taste again. I'd like to give a special shout out to Patty Edwards at Liberty Road Diner for the best homemade mashed potatoes, ham beans and hoecakes I've ever tasted. So good!!

LWC Archery runner-up at 3D National Championship

By Chris Wells

Foley, AL - Lindsey Wilson archery recorded a program-best runner-up finish today at the 2020 USA Archery 3D National Championships.

A pair of Blue Raiders and two LWC teams captured national championships during the two-day event.

"I couldn't be any prouder of our archers this weekend," LWC archery coach Mark Elam said. "They put up one heck of a fight but came up a little short of the win. They've worked really hard to get to where they are, and their work showed in several new personal best performances and four national titles.

"It has been fun and exciting to see their growth and progress and I can't wait to see what they can accomplish the rest of the season," Elam added. "I would sincerely like to thank the Lindsey Wilson administration for allowing us the opportunity to compete this fall and for their continued support of our archery program."

COVID-19: new cases from children up through age 18

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 17, 2020) - "This is the fourth highest day of positive COVID-19 cases. This is also the highest Saturday that we've ever had," said Gov. Andy Beshear. "Things are not moving in the right direction; they continue to escalate. This virus is our enemy, not each other."

As of 3pmET October 17, Gov. Beshear said there were at least 86,797 coronavirus cases in Kentucky, 1,295 of which were newly reported Saturday. One hundred and sixty-two of the newly reported cases were from children up through age 18, of which 27 were 5 and under. The youngest was just 7 days old.

"These cases are all over the place. On top of that, all of our other numbers are going the wrong way, too. More Kentuckians hospitalized and in the ICU than ever," said Gov. Beshear. "We know what it takes to stop these numbers from escalating. People's lives depend on it."
