State to supply PPE to all 120 counties

Frankfort, KY - Gov. Andy Beshear directed his administration to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep voters and poll workers safe during Kentucky's primaries next Tuesday.

The Governor's office is providing 5,000 masks, 4,000 gallons of hand sanitizer, 5,800 face shields and 20,000 gloves for the June 23 election. The PPE will be distributed to all 120 counties.

"I encourage every Kentuckian to vote, which is their duty as an American, but we must take every precaution available to protect voters and poll workers exercising that fundamental right," said Gov. Beshear. "We continue to take action to allow people to safely exercise their right to vote on Tuesday, including ensuring our poll workers have this protective gear."

Geneva Ann Page, 77, Adair Co., KY native (1942-2020)

Geneva Ann Sneed Page of Campbellsville, Kentucky, formerly of Columbia, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at The Grandview in Campbellsville. She was 77 years old.

Geneva requested cremation, and no public services are planned.

J. David Williams, 65, Canon City, CO (1955-2020)

J. David Williams passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at his residence in Canon City, CO. He was 65 years of age.

A Celebration of Life get-together was held with family and friends on Wednesday, June 16, in Canon City, CO. Another Celebration of Life for David will be held in Columbia, KY, in the fall of 2020.

Office of Unemployment Insurance offering in-person services

Frankfort, KY - No one in state government will be happy until all Kentuckians have received the benefits for which they qualify. As COVID-19 restrictions are easing, offering in-person services for those experiencing issues with their unemployment insurance benefits is now possible. During the past two days, in-person unemployment insurance services located near the Capitol building has reached capacity. Office of Unemployment Insurance (OUI) staff members are collecting information from claimants who arrived after the cutoff point today, so they can contact them early next week to assist with their claims.

Marion Suvanna Cochran, 73, Liberty, KY (1947-2020)

Marion Suvanna Ford Cochran, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was 73 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 1pmET on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville St, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Greg Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Caney Fork Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11amET to 1pmET on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance.

Reed sworn in as circuit judge for Green, Marion, Taylor, Washington

Frankfort, KY - Lebanon attorney Kaelin G. Reed was sworn in as a Circuit Court judge for Green, Marion, Taylor and Washington counties at a private investiture service May 26 at the Marion County Judicial Center. The counties make up the 11th Judicial Circuit. The governor appointed Judge Reed to serve the circuit's Division 2 after Judge Allan Ray Bertram retired in January.

CU's Schools of Cosmetology and Barbering reopen to the public

Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University's Schools of Cosmetology and Barbering have now reopened to the public, according to Amanda Roop, director of the School of Cosmetology/Barbering.

On May 26, Campbellsville University welcomed her School of Cosmetology and School of Barbering students back to campus to prepare for the reopening of both facilities, Roop said, and the School of Barbering began taking customers on June 8 while the School of Cosmetology opened its doors to the public June 9.

Lacey Rodriguez, lead cosmetology instructor, said the School of Cosmetology is offering its full-service menu with the exception of wax services, facials and make up application.

Starting Jun 29, Guidance for gatherings of up to 50 people

Under Governor Beshear's new executive order, groups of up to fifty (50) people may begin gathering on June 29, 2020.

If you are an individual with conditions identified by the CDC as higher risk or are over 65 years old, public health experts recommend that you continue to avoid any in-person gatherings and remain Healthy At Home.

If you host or attend a gathering of up to fifty (50) people under circumstances not otherwise explicitly addressed by other Healthy at Work guidance, please follow this document.

Groups MUST:
  • Communicate to individuals to stay home if sick and not attend a group event;
  • Remain at least six(6) feet apart from people who are not a part of your household;
  • Wear a cloth face covering or mask over your nose and mouth if you will be closer than six (6) feet to someone outside your own household;
  • Wash or sanitize hands frequently;
  • Screen and exclude persons with fever, symptoms of COVID-19, and/or direct exposure to COVID-19; and
  • Not share food, drink, containers, plates, napkins, or utensils.

Notice the outcropping of rock underneath the existing walkway around the Library. It truly is built "on solid rock."
