Letter: Cat Tale, Rescue of three kittens

Phillip W. Coffey writes:
Love the story about three kittens rescued from under my cousin's car hood. Heroic efforts made to protect little critters from imminent danger for sure. Now 'kitties' are sent to a farm to work. L.O.L.

Of course if I need some good working cats in a few months I'll know where I can find some. Love Billy's farm. I will use any kind of excuse to go there. Lots and lots of memories that reside on his farm. May need to go and fetch some cats and memories there. --Phillip

A Storm and a Runaway

By Phillip Coffey

Seventy-eight years ago, my parents, Elroy Coffey and Venie Moss, eloped and got married. Uncle Ural and a neighbor and cousin, Robert Willis, went along for the ride and to be witnesses.

Prior to the day of the departure, Mom, Dad, and the witnesses had planned carefully 'the big day'. All the supplies including a suitcase with all the necessities were stored in Uncle Ural's barn the night of May 7th. While Mom's dad John Marshall (J. M.) Moss was breaking the ground for tobacco planting across the road from his house, the plans were set in motion to elope.
