Last day for Adair Co. students is May 12

By Phyllis Curry

The last instructional day for Adair County students for the 2019-20 school year will be Tuesday, May 12. This will be the 37th day of non-traditional instruction. This was certainly not the way anybody envisioned the school year ending. Thank you again for being great partners in your's child education.

All digital and paper packets that were assigned for the past three weeks are due to teachers Friday, May 1. Packets can be delivered to schools and placed in the bins available at each school. All digital content for those three weeks should be submitted to teachers by the end of the day Friday.

The last seven instructional days for students, May 4-May 12, only require one performance-based task that is due May 8. May 11-12 will be for teachers to provide feedback to students on the project submitted. Each school has a flyer created that explains this process. The information will be posted on school websites and school Facebook accounts.

KDA supporting farmers markets as essential business

By Sean Southard

Frankfort, KY - After holding a digital round table with Kentucky farmers' markets managers, Commissioner Ryan Quarles has announced a new Kentucky Proud social media advertising campaign that will support farmers' markets during the coronavirus pandemic.

"It's the time of year when Kentucky's farmers' markets are opening up around the state," said Commissioner Quarles. "After speaking with many farmers' markets managers last week, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture is launching a new Kentucky Proud advertising campaign to make sure consumers know our markets are open and following the latest CDC guidelines. I want to applaud our producers and our market managers for adapting to these new realities to safely provide local food for Kentuckians."

The advertising campaign sends two messages: farmers' markets are open and are following current guidelines. Kentucky farmers' markets are allowing only one shopper at a time per family, encouraging customers to look but don't touch items, and, when available, to go cashless by using cards for payment or even pre-ordering online.
