T.J. Regional Health reopening some services Monday By Stacey Biggs With the Governor's announcement earlier this week that phase one of reopening of healthcare services can begin on Monday, T.J. Regional Health is planning and preparing to resume services using a phased, gradual approach. To ensure everyone's safety, many precautions will continue to be in place, including screening everyone who enters any T.J. facility and restricted visitor policies. In order to strictly limit the number of people in the facility at one time, fewer appointments than normal will be scheduled throughout the day in physician offices and for scheduled tests at the T.J. Health Pavilion. With that in mind, it will take longer than usual to schedule appointments for certain services. Many patients who had non-urgent issues are on a waiting list to be scheduled for tests ordered by their provider. The patient access team will be calling patients as quickly as possible to get them on the schedule. "We are working hard today and over the weekend to re-arrange waiting areas, alter patient schedules, and put additional safety measures in place," according to Jenny Cerwinske, Executive Vice President for Practice Management. "Patients can expect things to look a little different at the T.J. Health Pavilion when they come to see their doctor or for services such as radiology and lab work." Newborns settled in at Marie Freeman's home By Marie Freeman I have a wren that has nested here for the last three years, least I assume it's the same bird. The first year she chose a 5 gallon bucket before I realized it so I let her stay. The following year I chased around trying to prevent a nest the entire spring. Finally giving in and deciding I would create a pail for her to nest on my workbench underneath my family room outside with diatomaceous earth in her nesting box. I was always concerned about parasites so close to the home. So today I was beneath the house, she flew out and I decided to peek in this is what I discovered thinking there's a total of four... it's hard to tell... also saw a red breasted grosbeak today at the bird feeder. First I have ever seen one in my life. However I don't have a really good camera and by the time I got close enough to think about a picture the beautiful male grosbeak was gone. I guess that's an unusual sighting in Kentucky because they're a migratory bird and not a breeder in the state. 2020-04-24 11:52:45 | Comments | Printable version

Secretary Adams sent Governor Beshear a formal letter of recommendation Thursday, and Friday the Governor issued an Executive Order that outlines the election procedures that will be in place in June. "Today's Executive Order and regulations that will be created by the Kentucky State Board of Elections will allow all Kentuckians who are registered to vote for the upcoming primary to vote by mail through an absentee ballot," said Governor Beshear. "While there will be significant education and work required, we are committed to making sure this election will be held in a safe manner while we are in this worldwide health pandemic." "Voters across the political spectrum will be pleased with this plan to protect both democracy and public health," said Secretary Adams. Carol Perkins: Maybe it's not lack of sleep Previous column: How hard can it be? By Carol Perkins When I look in the mirror, I see tired eyes. The eyes of someone who has been up for days or who is plagued with allergies. My eyes, however, are tired from lack of sleep. Night after night, I am up and down. To the recliner and back to bed. Reading, thinking, or looking at the muted TV. The therapeutic mattress cover I thought would lead to a more restful sleep shows the effect of tossing and turning. It is ripped-coming a part where I flipped and flopped, fighting against chronic insomnia. If only I could turn off my mind! Stop the drama and the storylines that dash across like a ticker tape. Never good drama. I'm always looking for something. Can't find my work clothes. Looking for my keys. My glasses. A child that I can't identify. A way to get the car to go forward instead of backing all the way to town. I'm dodging drivers as I look in the rearview mirror, trying to keep from being hit. No wonder I'm tired. No wonder my eyes show it. Sleep once came easily. Crank up the car and I was asleep before we reached the county line. Then in my forties, all that changed.
