I'm attaching a letter I wrote to give to each of the seniors. Adair County High School Senior Class of 2020, "And the people stayed home. 2019-20 Rewind: Lindsey Wilson Football By Christopher Coombs The Lindsey Wilson football team made its fifth appearance in six years at the NAIA Football Championship Series. The Blue Raiders finished the year at 12-1 overall as they advanced to the NAIA FCS Semifinals for the first time in program history. The Blue Raiders started the season winning their first 12 games, marking the best start to a season in program history while collecting the most wins in a single season. Lindsey Wilson won the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division after going 7-0 in divisional contests. In the postseason, Lindsey Wilson defeated No. 11 Saint Francis (IN) at home, 30-26 in the first round of the playoffs. The Blue Raiders then went on the road to defeat No. 3 Kansas Wesleyan 35-24 and then capped off its season with a 34-24 loss in the national semifinals to No. 2-ranked Marian (IN). Adair County Fair cancels June events By Greg Thomas The Adair County Fairboard Due to virus conditions across Kentucky and the United State the 2020 Adair County Fair has canceled its Fair events scheduled for the second week of June. We are not able to meet and work together on projects, sell sponsorships, or even know for sure if things will be open for business by our dates. Later in the year we are hoping to have our cattle shows, floral hall, and pageants. Please be watching for these updates in the media. Supreme Court of KY to hear arguments by videoconference By Jamie Neal Frankfort, KY - The Supreme Court of Kentucky is hearing oral arguments remotely for the first time in its history, as the justices are not meeting in person to observe social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The court will hear oral arguments by videoconference at 10amET on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, in a family law case on appeal from Oldham County. Adams encourages voters to register online Frankfort, KY - Secretary of State Michael G. Adams announced this week that Kentucky saw a flatline in voter registration for the month of March, with the state holding a total of 3,469,912 registrants as of March 31. This is a 0.01 percent increase since February 29 or only 504 additional voters. Democratic registrants represent just more than 48 percent of the electorate with 1,679,132 registered voters. Democratic registration dropped by 914, since February 29, a 0.05 percent decrease. Republican registrants total 1,484,062, or almost 43 percent of voters, with a small increase of 976 registered voters, a gain of 0.07 percent since February 29. Almost 9 percent of voters are listed under other affiliations, with an additional 442 voters added to their totals, a 0.14 percent increase. "Voter registration has leveled at a time when it's difficult to conduct a voter registration drive," said Secretary Adams. "I've taken action to delay the voter registration deadline for the primary election to May 26. I strongly encourage - and will use the resources of my Office to encourage - Kentuckians to register to vote online, at GoVoteKy.com." Adair County School update from Dr. Pamela Stephens Adair School Superintendent, Dr. Pamela Stephens, called students and their families Monday evening with an update about the changes being required. After Gov. Beshear asked that there be no more face to face school sessions through the end of the 2019-2020 academic school year, she said she just wanted to reassure seniors that they will have their special events. She said plans are being discussed every day and students voices are being heard so choices can be made by the class for prom and commencement and senior time. Adair County 4-H Grab & Go Educational Kits - Week 4 By Tony Rose, Adair County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development Adair County Extension Service Adair County 4-H is pleased to announce Week 4's 4-H Grab & Go Educational Kits. These are educational projects that youth can do at home. The kits contain the materials for the kids to do each of the projects. We have included in the kit an information sheet that we would request you return either by mail or drop in the box when you pick up a new kit, so we can track who is using the kits. We would also ask that you share photos of the youth who are using the kits on Facebook or other social media. Please use the tag #AdairCoKY4H. Our office Facebook page is Adair County Cooperative Extension Service. You can also email the pictures to trose@uky.edu Who can get a Grab and Go kit? Anyone who would like to pick up one for youth in the community. We do ask that you only get one kit per youth. When & Where can we get the kits? New kits will be placed out every Thursday. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Tonight will be clear, with a low around 35F and areas of frost developing after 3amCT. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. On Wednesday, frost should clear by 8amCT. Otherwise, we'll see increasing clouds, with a high near 67F.
