Statement on missing funds, Jail Canteen account

By Joey White, Adair County Jailer

There was a discrepancy in the 2017-2018 audit. The day I found out where the discrepancy was I contacted Sheriff Brockman and Judge Cowan.

Later that same day a group of us got together including the sheriff, and judge executive and myself and we called the auditor of 2017-2018 to tell him about our findings and that we would like to have an audit up to December 31st, 2019.

So as of now, this is under investigation and by my understanding the investigation will continue till the audits are complete. Soon as the investigation is complete I will have comment on this matter.

I have been working with the auditors and putting procedures into place to safeguard funds from this ever happening again.

"Bam continues to be in the ICU unit at Norton's in downtown Louisville, where he has been for 79 days now. Overall, he is getting better, but his road to recovery is a tough and long road.

"We were told Saturday that Klebsiella (a bacteria that we all have and is considered a good bacteria when it is in the gut as it should be) was in his blood and in some pockets of infection in his belly area. When it is outside the intestines, this bacteria can cause serious infection.

By William T. Luckey, Jr., President
Lindsey Wilson College

Good afternoon,

Lindsey Wilson College as well as the rest of the world is wrestling with a rapidly changing situation in calculating an appropriate response to the coronavirus pandemic. The first important thing to communicate is just how complex this organization is. With campuses in five states and 17 locations it's important to not think of the college as a one-size fits all model.

Hosting international students is extraordinary opportunity

By Glen Hunt, host parent
LWC International Student Program

As a host family for Lindsey Wilson College, Kathy and I get an extraordinary opportunity to share our life experiences with young, international students from around the world. We attempt to share aspects of our cultural values without promoting the same. This is a continuous & very distinct exchange of information between the various cultures.

On Sunday, March 8, 2020, we had another opportunity to do exactly that as we took the ladies to Somerset, KY. After an excellent lunch at the "Mellow Mushroom", the ladies went shopping while we parked the trucks under a shady tree and took a well deserved nap in the spring-like weather. Isn't life grand?!!

Host families play a big part in introducing international students to American life. Sharing local and family traditions with international students will help them understand what America is all about.

I have been receiving some calls regarding the COVID-19 virus. Myself, along with other state and local personnel were on a webinar today with Governor Beshear, Michael Dossett with KYEM, and Dr. Steven Stack, Commissioner of KY Dept. of Public Health today. Be aware that the information will change daily (sometimes hourly). At the time of the webinar Tuesday, March 10, 2020, we had 6 confirmed cases in the state of Kentucky. We have no cases reported in our area.

The importance of slowing COVID-19

COVID-19 has been described as flu-like, and for most people, the flu ends up as a major inconvenience. But every year the flu can send tons of people to the hospital, too, which is why public health officials spend a considerable amount of time each year tracking the flu, testing for it, and educating the public on ways to prevent the spread of the flu, such as handwashing and vaccination.

It seems that a higher number of folks who contract COVID-19 can end up requiring medical care, and there are only so many doctors and hospitals in the state. There's a great graphic on a thespinoff, a New Zealand news site, that demonstrates the major benefit of paying attention to the spread of COVID-19 here in Kentucky. The more time that passes between cases, the less it stresses healthcare capacity:

NCP completes $30k state-of-the-art compounding lab

North Century Pharmacy (NCP), located at 3058 Campbellsville Rd, Columbia, KY, recently executed a major upgrade to its compounding operations in order to serve an ever-growing population throughout the Commonwealth. The new lab was designed by Easton Bryant, PharmD. Dustin Martin and Jon Beard of Bluegrass Custom Concepts, a construction group based in Columbia, completed the project.

Aside from creating the space itself, the pharmacy also acquired a wide array of equipment to fill the state-of-the-art lab. "We had twice outgrown different areas in the pharmacy where we were compounding," says Bryant, "and we realized it was time to go all-in and construct this room to fit our needs." He continued, "It's a major investment, but it's for a unique service in which an increasing number of providers and patients are finding value, so it was an obvious next-step for us."

Prescription compounding is the process of combining, mixing, or altering ingredients to create a medication tailored to the needs of an individual patient. Compounded meds are typically necessary when a patient has difficulty using commercially-available products, requires a dosage that is different from the standard drug strengths, or has failed therapy with typical meds.
