The Kentucky Senate voted 32-2 today to advance a proposed constitutional amendment to repeal Section 233 of the state constitution, which states that any laws in effect in Virginia before June 1792 are in effect in Kentucky. Exceptions are to be made if the Virginia laws are specific to that state, not of a "general nature," are in conflict with Kentucky's constitution and laws, or have been altered or repealed by the Kentucky General Assembly. General Fund and Road Fund receipts for February 2020 General Fund receipts rose 2.9 Percent, Year-to-Date up 3.5 percent, Road Fund receipts grew 3.8 Percent, Year-to-Date up 1.8 percent By John T. Hicks/Greg Harkenrider Frankfort, KY - State Budget Director John Hicks reported today that General Fund receipts climbed 2.9 percent in February with revenues of $884.0 million compared to the $859.4 million collected in February 2019. Through the first eight months of FY20, the General Fund has grown 3.5 percent. The official General Fund revenue estimate for FY20 calls for revenue to grow 1.6 percent compared to FY19 actual receipts. After February's results are considered, General Fund revenues could decrease 1.9 percent for the remainder of the fiscal year and still meet the official estimate. Epperson tosses career game for LWC Softball By Brady Budke Hannah Epperson tossed a career game today at Marilyn D. Sparks Park helping the Lindsey Wilson softball team sweep Union (KY) in a non-conference doubleheader. Lindsey Wilson took game one over the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0. Game two was a different story, as LWC rolled out a 6-1 victory. In the 1-0 game one victory, Epperson went the full seven innings from the center circle throwing 101 pitches allowing just three hits while striking out her career-high of 11 batters. Epperson evaporates her old career-high of nine strikeouts which she accomplished last season against Georgetown (KY) on April 6th. LWC Men's Golf sits in 3rd place at Skyhawk Invitational By Grace Blomstedt Pine Mountain, GA - The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team sits in third place after completing the first day of competition at the Skyhawk Invitational at the Callaway Gardens Golf Club, a par-72, 7,057-yard design. The Blue Raiders finished the day with a 597, five strokes behind the leaders, shooting a 303 in the first round and a 294 in the day's second round.
