State officials announce efforts to prevent COVID-19 No cases of 2019 Novel Coronavirus in the state; Kentuckians provided with tips on how to stay well By Crystal Staley/Anya Weber Frankfort, KY - Governor Andy Beshear was joined by officials from the Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH), within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), to announce that Kentucky continues to closely monitor the international situation concerning the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Gov. Beshear emphasized that though there are currently no COVID-19 cases in the state, public health officials have been monitoring individuals who meet certain criteria and are also preparing for the possibility of the virus spreading within the Commonwealth. "It's important for the public to know that even though Kentuckians are at low risk for this virus, our state and local health experts have been working hard to ensure the public is educated and that reports of patients that meet criteria for COVID-19 are being properly tested and treated to reduce potential harm," Gov. Beshear said. "The best advice for Kentuckians to follow is not new advice - get your flu shot, stay home if you are not feeling well and practice good hygiene by washing your hands thoroughly." KY Afield Outdoors: The spybait technique By Lee McClellan Frankfort, KY - New bass fishing techniques or presentations are cast into the marketplace seemingly every year and become the newest rage, pushing established techniques into the prop wash of the next new thing. The spybaiting presentation is one of those new techniques that made a splash a few years ago and faded a bit with time, but this hasn't impacted its unique ability to catch bass suspended in the water column when the water is still cold. "When bass are suspended, a spybait gives a great chance to catch them," said Chad Miles, host of the Kentucky Afield television show and an early adopter of the spybait technique. "At this time of year, after the sunlight gets on the water, fish will move out and suspend and get really hard to catch. They may be 10-15 feet deep, but suspended over 30 feet of water. That is a great time to throw the spybait." Article continues... click title or click here to read whole article. 2020-02-27 13:52:18 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Ky Afield Outdoors
