Remembering Cally: Goodnight... I love you... By Stacey Hatcher Wilson One year ago last night at 8:23 pm if only I'd known that would have been my last text from Cally I sure would have said a few more things... My last words to her were goodnight I love you... There are no words or emojis to describe the way I feel. My heart broke at 4:30 am on Monday, January 28, 2019. That's the day my baby girl Cally Paige Wilson McFall was found dead. There is no way to describe when you get THAT CALL and I pray that anyone reading this never has to. When I arrived at her home, I collapsed in the road when I saw the white sheet laying over her body outside in the yard. The thought of my baby laying outside on the cold ground all night and her body covered in frost is something no mother, father or grandparent deserves to see. Quarles calls for FDA guidance on hemp regulation By Sean Southard Frankfort, KY - Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Ryan Quarles released a letter he sent to Kentucky's federal delegation, urging them to join him in pushing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to end its "bureaucratic paralysis" hindering Kentucky's hemp industry. "The FDA's inability to make regulatory decisions is preventing growth in the hemp marketplace," Commissioner Quarles said. "Promising potential markets remain closed while crop production has increased. When there is a surplus of a crop and it begins to pile up, the result is obvious: crop prices will fall. We've got to do all we can to explain to federal regulators in Washington how regulatory uncertainty is affecting Kentucky and other states around the nation." HB24 would expedite Bowling Green Veterans Center By Rebecca Hanchett, LRC Frankfort, KY - A bill that would speed up plans to bring a fifth veterans' nursing facility to Kentucky moved closer to becoming law after its passage in the state House on Monday. House Bill 24 sponsor Rep. Michael Meredith, R-Oakland, said his bill would appropriate $2.5 million in state moneys needed to complete design and preconstruction work that will expedite construction of the 90-bed facility by as much as six years. The facility will be located in Bowling Green on several acres of donated land. One hundred percent of the design and preconstruction work must be completed before federal funding will be allocated for the $30 million facility, said Meredith, adding that the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs currently lacks funding needed for the groundwork.
