Dry Conditions in Adair and Surrounding Counties

By Mike Keltner,
Adair County Emergency Management

While in discussion with the National Weather Service (NWS) and Adair County Judge Executive Gale Cowan, in regard to the dry conditions of the county, it was decided to bring attention to the elevated risk of fire spread.

The majority of Adair County remains out of the abnormally dry conditions indicated on the included drought monitor infographic and further information from the NWS expects the conditions to remain the same through the end of the week. Many counties around Adair are experiencing moderate drought conditions and have enacted local burn bans.

Please use caution if you must burn in Adair County and consult with your local government if out of the county.

We will continue to monitor conditions along with our government partners and make determination on a local ban if conditions change.

Apple awards Harrodsburg company $250 million

By Grace Schneider, Louisville Courier Journal

Tech giant Apple announced Tuesday morning it's awarding $250 million to fuel more innovation for the scratch-resistant glass made in Kentucky for its hot-selling iPhones. The money will go to expand advanced manufacturing and technology pioneered by Corning Inc., which has a research and development center and manufacturing hub in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, with nearly 400 high-paying jobs.

No new positions are expected, but executives said the investment will build on momentum from a similar award of $200 million from Apple in early 2017. It's also seen as key to solidifying Kentucky's involvement with the company's products.

Saloma Baptist Pastor's Blog - fall gives a certain reassurance

By Pastor John E. Chowning

The feel of the fall season is increasingly evident with schools back in session, football and other fall sports seasons underway, early signs of the changing colors of nature, and cooler temperatures - all about us, we sense that we're entering into autumn - or fall as we call it in the country.

There is a certain reassurance, at least for me, during the fall season. Life seems to return to a more regular pattern after months of summer vacations. Our children and grandchildren are back in school, and families generally settle into more normal routines of life.

One important question comes to mind as we move beyond Labor Day and into September and October.
