Adair FFA Crop Scouting students in competition in Iowa By Rebecca Heuser, FFA Senior Reporter Seven Adair County High School Crop Scouting members will be attending competition Monday, August 26, 2019 in Ames, Iowa. Crop Scouting is an agronomy and plant pathology based contest. Students compete in interactive field scouting exercises in corn and soybeans, testing their knowledge and ability to identify potential field problems. They use basic agronomic and integrated pest management principles to develop suggestions for producers. Adair School Board meets - over 2,600 students are enrolled By Linda Waggener The Adair County Board of Education met in regular session Thursday, August 22, 2019. FFA students led the pledge of Allegiance to open the meeting. Superintendent Pamela Stephens commended them on their success and wished them well in upcoming competition. She noted that the School Board meeting came only days after the semester start and it was already very busy with the first football game the next evening in Russell County and the annual Mark Twain Marching Band Festival on Saturday. There is an overflow in kindergarten, according to Dr. Stephens, and a teacher position has been posted. Selection will be made after the Labor Day holiday. There are over 2,600 students in the Adair Public School District to date. ACPC has 561 students enrolled, ACES Has 587 students, ACMS has 634 students, the high school has 798 students, and AYDC has 27 enrolled.
