Letter: No longer green Joyce M Coomer writes: Ummm... this is no longer a green space... the addition of picnic tables and trees to the grass would have been a much better -- visually and ecologically -- solution than all the rock. --JoyceComments re photo 84249 Space being developed beside CPD 2019-06-29 18:37:06 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
Letter: Everything at Farmers Market is locally produced By Donna Jones The number of vendors has increased as well as your locally grown produce. Today many vendors were asked "Where did you get those tomatoes or beans?" The Farmers Market on the Square is a locally grown and produced market, which means every vendor that sells their products at Farmers Market on the Square either grows it, makes it, bakes it, or cans it. Nothing at this market is bought elsewhere and brought in. We all take pride in producing and providing great local items to our community and to our many customers, you are the reason we have such a great market. We say "Thank you," and please remember your Farmers Market on the Square is a locally produced market. --Donna Comments re photo 84255 Busy Saturday at the Farmers Market 2019-06-29 18:36:10 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback

Kentucky Color: American Beech By Billy Joe Fudge American Beech is just about as shade-tolerant as a hardwood species can be. This means that it can germinate or root sprout in the deep, dark shade of the forest canopy. It will live and grow a little each growing season for decades while waiting for a hole in the canopy to allow in sufficient sunlight for it to push itself right up into the canopy. Around this part of the world, Beech along with Sugar Maple become the climax forest, in that the canopy is formed of shade-tolerant species and the only thing below them to replace them when they die will be more shade-tolerant trees. Since the demise of American Chestnut, Beechnuts or, Beech mast collectively speaking, is one of the most dependable sources of food for just about every species of birds such as wild turkey, Blue Jays and animals such as Black bear, foxes, squirrels, etc. They are the most tasty of nuts, but small and difficult for us humans to husk. By Christina Dettman/Jordan Rowe Frankfort, KY - Recent legislation expands access to telehealth services in the Commonwealth, especially for Medicaid participants. Senate Bill 112 passed the General Assembly in 2018, with an effective date of July 1, 2019. The legislation allows a patient to remain in their home, or be present at a local health facility, and consult with a provider via video conference. While the provider must be licensed in Kentucky, they are no longer required to be certified by a telehealth board. Medicaid reimbursement rates for telehealth are equal to the rates paid by insurers for an in-person visit.
