After Nine Years Adair receives $97,000 FEMA Funds During the spring of 2010, Kentucky counties saw tornadoes, mudslides, severe storms and flooding. Weather so destructive that Governor Steve Beshear declared a State of Emergency which allowed FEMA to determine which specific areas of the state qualified for federal aid. Now, after nine years Adair receives $97,000 FEMA Funds. By Tiffany Kessler Thanks to the determination of Mike Keltner, Adair County Emergency Management Director, and Melinda Quinn, Adair County Treasurer, the fiscal court recently received its final payment from FEMA for a bridge damaged in 2010. Purdy-Sano Road extends from Liberty Road, near Cook's Transmission, to Allen Schoolhouse/Grassy Springs Road. That's important to anyone making grant applications in local organizations, and it's important to have that designation for attracting new employers to Columbia and Adair County. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved fishing, playing poker and hanging out at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Garnett "Snake" Sweeney, of Liberty, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019, at Casey County Hospital. He was 85. Wolf Creek Dam rock slide, rising lake levels causing worry By Linda Waggener Discussion at the Adair County Tourism meeting Tuesday evening, February 19, 2019, included concerns over the constant rain, the near record water level in both Green River Lake and Lake Cumberland and Monday's Wolf Creek Dam rockslide. Tourism Treasurer Pam Hancock shared a message she received during the meeting, "Jamestown Marina has made the announcement that at lake elevation 745', they will be turning off all power to the lodge and the marina slips. At 743' water will be over the causeway and the only access to boats will be by water taxi." David Lewis Butler of Holmes Bend Marina said 750' is the highest water level recorded so far and with all the rains happening and the forecast calling for more rain, this is getting very close.
