His funeral service will be at 12noonCT/1pmET Monday, February 11, 2019 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Rev. Dave Walters and Dick Scholl. Burial will be in the Green County Memory Gardens with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Bernheim Forest tracking pair of golden eagles The Kentucky Standard Bernheim Forest officials announced Wednesday that they are now tracking a second eastern golden eagle, a female and companion of the male raptor they have been tracking for four years. The project is believed to be the first pair of golden eagles tracked together in the eastern United States. Bernheim officials cited the large forest block habitat that Bernheim provides as critical to the preservation of this species. Evelyn Smith, 98, formerly of Coburg, KY (1920-2019) She was a well-known Seamstress, always sewing for somebody, a member of Kellyville Community Church and tried to take care of everybody in the neighborhood by cooking, sewing, providing transportation and just helping anybody she could. Evelyn Smith, formerly of the Coburg Community, died Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 1:35pm at The Grandview in Campbellsville. She was 98 years old. The funeral service will be held at 11amCT on Monday, February 11, 2019, at Kellyville Community Church, 77 Kellyville Rd, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Stanley Watson officiating. LWC Baseball set for season opener at Georgia Gwinnett By Clayton Barefield The Lindsey Wilson baseball team travels to Lawrenceville, Georgia to open their 2019 season in a three-game series against No. 3-ranked Georgia Gwinnett Friday-Sunday at the Grizzly Baseball Complex, 1030 Collins Hill Road, Lawrenceville, GA. The Blue Raiders open the series on Friday beginning at 3pmCT with game two on Saturday beginning at 1pmCT. The series is set to finish on Sunday at NoonCT. Last season, Lindsey Wilson went 22-26 and finished 8-9 in the Mid-South Conference before falling in both games at the MSC Tournament. CMS bill now a law, advisor inducted into Hall of Fame By Calen McKinney Campbellsville Middle School students were honored with several awards at the Kentucky Youth Assembly session on December 3 and 4, 2018. The school's Kentucky YMCA Youth Association chapter attended the annual program, which allows students to serve as a part of a model state government. As a whole, the group received a premiere delegation award. Several students presented a bill defining puppy mills, and it was signed into law. Flu cases on the rise in Barren County Flu appears to be trending in Barren County, with a moderate increase in Metcalfe County, and a small increase in cases in Adair and other surrounding counties in the last week. The weekly reports from CHFS show 593 confirmed cases in Barren for the week ending February 7, 2019, up from 353 cases the week before.

Reagan Turner hits a career milestone By Chris Wells Lindsey Wilson sophomore Reagan Turner eclipsed the 1,000-point mark on Thursday night in the Blue Raiders'61-59 setback to host Pikeville University at the UPike Gym. Turner becomes the 13th Blue Raider in the program's history to reach 1,000 points. She achieved the mark in 58 career games -- the fourth fastest in the program's history. The Gamaliel, KY, native, is leading the Mid-South Conference in scoring and ranks seventh in the NAIA this season while shooting 46 percent from the field. Following her 18-point performance on Thursday, Turner is averaging 20.2 points per game this season.
