Wethington's winning record at LWC

By Chris Wells

Lindsey Wilson women's basketball coach John B. Wethington won his 600th career game as a head coach on Monday night at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders defeated visiting Wilberforce (Ohio) 76-52 to improve to 15-6 on the season.

Wethington -- now in his 30th season as the head coach on the Lindsey Wilson sideline -- is the program's all-time leader in wins and ranks third among the active coaches in the NAIA. He owns a .638 winning percentage with 25 winning seasons, including 17 20-win seasons.

"All of these wins are a product of a supportive administration and great student-athletes and assistant coaches over the years," Wethington said. "I'm so proud of them and what they have meant to this program over the last 30 years."

Campbellsville Independent Schools will also be closed January 30, 2019.

Casey and Marion County Public Schools will both be closed on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.

Take Steps to Avoid Hypothermia This Winter

By Barbara Fox/Beth Fisher

"When the thermometer drops, people are at increased risk for hypothermia," said DPH Commissioner Jeff Howard, M.D. "Hypothermia occurs when an individual's body temperature drops below what is necessary to achieve normal metabolism and other bodily functions. In severe cases or when the body is not properly warmed, death can result."

The condition occurs most often when an individual is submerged in icy waters. However, people exposed to cold weather who aren't sufficiently prepared also are at an increased risk for the condition.

To prevent hypothermia, DPH advises that Kentuckians:

Letter: Remembers when politicians were regular folks

Ann Pearson writes:
Sadly all these politicians seem to be multi-millionaires and out of touch with regular citizens. Most of them have become millionaires while in office which begs one to ask how did they get so rich in office.

I remember the days when bankers, farmers, store owners were in office and could relate to the needs of the common man but no more. Now politicians seem to vote the way lobbyists tell them to not the people they are supposed to represent. Offices seem all bought and paid for anymore. I miss the good ole days~ --Ann
