Taylor Fire Department called out to Knifley Road By Larry Smith, General Manager, The Big Dawg, FM 99.9 radio The Taylor County Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 2:28pmET on Thursday, January 17, 2019 reporting a house fire at 5996 Knifley Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found a 2-story wood frame house with heavy fire through the roof in the rear portion of the residence. Governor Recognizes Sacrifice of Fort Campbell Soldier By Nicole Burton Frankfort, KY - Gov. Matt Bevin today recognized the sacrifice of a Fort Campbell soldier, Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jonathan R. Farmer, 37, of Boynton Beach, Florida. Chief Warrant Officer Farmer was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He died Jan. 16, 2019, in Manbij, Syria, as a result of wounds sustained from a suicide improvised explosive device. Service arrangements are not yet complete. Gov. Bevin will order flags lowered to half-staff in honor of Chief Warrant Officer Farmer on the date of interment, and encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute. LWC Wrestling set to compete at MO Valley Invitational By Clayton Barefield The No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestling team is set to compete on Friday and Saturday at the Missouri Valley Invitational in Marshall, Missouri. The Missouri Valley Invitational is hosting over 30 teams with nearly 400 individuals this weekend at the Burns Athletic Center on the campus of Missouri Valley College. Friday's competition is scheduled to begin at 2pmCT and will resume at 9amCT on Saturday. The Blue Raiders are coming off a 29-11 victory over Cumberland (Tenn.) to remain perfect in the Mid-South Conference with a 3-0 record. David Waggener, 74, Adair County, KY (1944-2019) The Barnes family has lost a generous citizen of the world who traveled the globe extensively in his spare time, sharing his life with family and friends. He has lived in Columbia the past 24 years to be closer to his sister, Barbara Barnes, and her husband, Charles. Per his wishes, the family has chosen to hold a graveside service at 11am Saturday, April 20, 2019. KY Afield Outdoors: New Fishing Regulations for 2019 By Lee McClellan Frankfort, KY - An old blues song "High Water Everywhere" lamented the damage caused by the great 1927 Mississippi River flood. Kentuckians so far this winter can empathize with those sentiments. Many rivers still run high, Lake Cumberland is at summer pool in January and other reservoirs are well above winter pool. The weather forecast calls for more rain, followed by wicked cold. The spring fishing season seems eons away, but it is not. Good luck to ACHS Lady Indians this morning in Owensboro At last night's Adair School Board meeting Superintendent Stephens reminded everyone that this morning many would be heading for Owensboro to watch the Lady Indians in their first game of state tournament action. She'd had word the team had arrived and were able to practice. Cheerleaders were heading there early this morning. Bridging Kentucky Program project to begin in Metcalfe Co By Wes Watt Bowling Green, KY - A Bridging Kentucky Project will soon be underway in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's District 3 area.
