Kentucky was target of $5 million fraud attempt Kentucky Press News Service There was a sophisticated attempt just days ago to steal more than $5 million of taxpayer money from the state. That's what Kentucky State Treasurer Allison Ball told WKYT's Bill Bryant during the taping of the station's Newsmakers program this week. Ball said the first attempt was to illegally take about $5.3 million. When that effort was stopped, others worth several thousand dollars each were attempted. None succeeded, Ball said, thanks to training her staff received on how to spot and stop such efforts. The incidents took place just before Christmas, she said. Wanda Johnson, 78, Casey County, KY (1940-2018) She was a homemaker. She was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church. She loved the Kentucky Wildcats and to go rabbit hunting. Wanda was a very loving mother. Wanda M. Johnson, of Liberty, KY passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Liberty Care and Rehab. She was 78. Illegal gambling machines seized in Casey Lottery retailers also lose right to sell tickets Kentucky Press News Service In September, the Casey County Sheriff's Office executed a series of search warrants that led to the seizure of 22 illegal gambling machines at retailers. The machines were described in a state lottery news release as "video poker and other electronic gambling devices." Subsequently, licensees affiliated with six Kentucky Lottery outlets have pled guilty to a Class A misdemeanor of possession of a gambling device, the news release said. State law mandates any retailer convicted of illegal gambling activities cannot sell state lottery tickets for 10 years. I was sorry I did not make it to my little Mom's nor Rick's Mom's - I have to limit events and any possible exposure to crowds/germs while on this trial cancer drug. I won't know for three or four months if it is working. It has been a little over three years since I had my last chemo. It's all coming back to me:
