This UK college plans to add thousands of students by 2025 By Linda Blackford, Lexington Herald-Leader The University of Kentucky recently announced ambitious growth plans for the next five years, with more students, more faculty, and more space for classrooms, offices and research. But nowhere will that growth be more apparent than the College of Engineering. According to Dean Rudolph G. Buchheit, who started this summer, the college is recruiting 20 new faculty to keep up with a 90 percent increase in student enrollment over the past decade. Homeless man spent months looking for ring's owner By Beth Musgrave, Lexington Herald-Leader It was lying on its side in the grass between the sidewalk and the street near Two Keys Tavern on South Limestone in Lexington. When Robert "Shorty" Eads found the ring in August he knew the owner would want it back. The 2011 Georgetown College football Final Four ring was more than just jewelry -- someone had worked hard for that ring. "I know it meant something to somebody," Eads said recently. ACSO makes meth trafficking arrest On December 25th, 2018, Adair county Deputy Joey Keith stopped a black 2011 Mazda in the Walmart parking lot. After a roadside investigation, Deputy Keith asked assistance from Columbia Police Officer Johnny Dial and K-9 Gunner. With Gunner's assistance, Keith was able to locate a large amount of suspected methamphetamine. Deputy Keith arrested 50-year-old Rory Shelanskey of Columbia, KY, and charged him with Possession-1st degree-2nd offense (methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Promoting Contraband 1st degree, and Trafficking controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense methamphetamine. Shelanskey was lodged in the Adair County Jail by Deputy Keith. In addition to Officer Johnny Dial and K-9 Gunner, Deputy Keith was assisted on the scene by Columbia Police officer Jamie Cole. NOTE: An arrest is not a finding of guilt. She is a Blu Jay and flies in at Christmas time. Today is cold and grey outside, lonely leaves flutter and wave good bye on the trees, the sky is blank. Jack, Jack Russell Terrier, sits intensely and warm inside while peering out the front windows. Hmmm, he anticipates an event, zoned in on some event I cannot yet see. Perhaps it is a Helicopter. Jack watches for those air choppers and announces their arrival with great barking and blah blah blah. Richards calls for transparency around KY pension changes By Aaron Mudd, Bowling Green Daily News As one of his final acts in office, state Rep. Jody Richards, D-Bowling Green, is calling for a constitutional amendment that would make any pension reform bill available for public review at least 24 hours before a vote. "It's simply an attempt to have all sides heard before a pension bill is finally passed," said Richards, who is retiring at the end of the year after more than 40 years in office.
