OP ED: Secretary Grimes issues statement on pension reform

from Bradford Queen, Office of Secretary of State Allison Lundergan Grimes
Opinions below are those of the author, Allison Lundergan Grimes
"I am disappointed by recent comments made about Kentucky's teachers, who are concerned about the fate of their pensions. Teachers are the heart of every community across the Commonwealth. They show up early every morning for our children – using money out of their own pockets for supplies and foregoing sick leave – because they know a class full of students is counting on them. Education is the strong foundation of our future, and every Kentuckian is indebted to their tireless efforts to encourage Kentucky's young people to live up to their potential.

"Kentucky's leaders should trust our state's teachers to be part of the process and allow them to have a say in any changes made to their pensions they've worked for their entire lives. Kentucky’s teachers stop at nothing to ensure our children are successful, and officials in Frankfort should be doing the same for them. They, like our law enforcement, first responders, and public servants, deserve a transparent and open process for pension reform."
