There will also be a meal at lunchtime, singing of praise, and Mr. Richard Phelps will portray Daniel Trabue, who will tell about his home and how he came to settle on that hill above Columbia's Square. Juanita Ruth Back Tweedy, 95, Ribbon, Russell Co., KY, native (1922-2017) She was a native of Ribbon, Russell County, KY, a resident of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, MI at the time of her death, and her final resting place will be in Adair County, KY. She married Marvin Tweedy in 1939 and celebrated 54 years before his passing in 1993. She was a member and deacon of Journey of Faith (Memorial Christian) for over 60 years. She worked for Argus Camera and retired from UMI. Juanita was a big U of M football fan, loved to garden, make photo albums, and cooked fabulous corn and pies. Juanita Ruth Back Tweedy, age 95, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, the matriarch of her family, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017. Business: Golden Rule-Wilson expanding in Adair and Russell South Central Kentucky's hot housing market fuels expansion of real estate offices Golden Rule-Wilson, Columbia's largest residential real estate agency, recently announced a sizeable expansion of support staff personnel and licensed agents. Joining the Columbia office is Kelli Claypool, Elliot Burton, Logan Sandusky, and Danny and Veronica Mouser. The Russell Springs office has added John David Hale and Lance Williams. "The exponential growth in our market means we need to grow in order to serve our clients," said company owner Chris Wilson. "With the proposed development in Russell County of new restaurants, industries, and lodging, the influx of new homebuyers are on the rise. The housing market is strong," adds Wilson. "People are calling our office from all over the country, looking for all types of properties in Adair, Russell, and surrounding Counties. The real estate market has bounced back from the recession that happened in 2008 and it is now back to the price levels prior to that recession." William (Sapp) Johnson, Taylor Co., KY (1937-2017) He was a native of Taylor County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the patriarch of a large, respected family. The Whitehurst Diaries: The Tradition of Country Stores Alfred & Melissa Ellis have reopened Pellyton's Store at the foot of Sanders Ridge Road, at 17165 Liberty Road; Columbia, Kentucky 42728. Once again having the luxury of their own community store, Sharon Whitehurst was inspired to write the masterpiece which follows. Slowing for the turn onto Sanders Ridge Road, Jim noted vehicles in the parking lot and a welter of tools, paint buckets and step ladders visible beyond the open doors. Closed for two years, the building was now under-going a through scrubbing, fresh interior paint, attractive landscaping. A bench on the porch is an attractive place for a traveler to rest with a mug of coffee or a cold soft drink. Doug & Debbie White, others heading a Hurricane relief effort Collection of supplies underway now for truck which is expected to leave Columbia, KY for Houston, TX with a target date Monday, September 24, 2017. Local efforts are being coordinated with Eight Days of Hope, a Christian ministry headquartered in Tupelo, MS. By Debbie White Doug and I, along with the Band of Brothers at the Columbia Christian Church, are organizing relief efforts for Houston victims of Hurricane Harvey, which will be coordinated with the Eight Days of Hope organization. We are now collecting donations to take to Houston when Doug and I are given the signal to proceed. Randy (Bubby) Luttrell, 57, Russell Springs, KY (1959-2017) He was a native of Russell County, KY, a resident of the county at the time of his death, and his final resting place will be in Russell County, KY. He was a factory worker and a member of a large, respected Russell County, KY, family. He was the son of the late Jannella Faye (Robertson) & Albert C. Luttrell. His wife, Linda Luttrell, survives.
