She was a long-time member of Columbia Baptist Church, teaching the Fellowship Sunday School Class for many years, a founding member and Secretary/Treasurer of the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department. Guy Moss' cloud seeding device, and the Cold War - as it affected Jamestown Hill in the 1950s. By Ed Waggener This morning's downpour in Columbia triggered a memory of the 1950s - I believe - when Columbia was a location for weather changing efforts. Guy Moss ran the Standard Oil Station at the intersection of Road Eighty and Jamestown Street. The station stood on a small part of the lot now occupied by CVS Pharmacy, across Road Eighty from Ms Hattie Eubanks home, a good 20 feet higher than the Franklin Nissan lot. In those days, Mr. Moss had a Cloud Seeding device, which was supposed to bring drought relief to, I believe we were told, Idaho. When the winds were right, the cloud seeding company would call him to tell him to turn on the machine.
