Letter: Sad, hurtful day Comments re photo 74048 The VFW Monument move VII A disappointing end to project Nancy Troutman Hadley writes: I've said all along it was an historical monument why did it need to be moved. . . But I guess that would have been a hard ideal to come up with. . . I am a very proud daughter of an Army veteran, James Troutman and, yes, my uncle's name, Robert, was on there. A very sad, hurtful day for me . . . - Nancy Troutman HadleyThanks for your sentiments And of course, we understand. It's a wonderful thing about this community that we cherish traditions, icons, and the coming and going of the seasons in regular order. Everyone involved with the move was heartbroken. However, I hope you find solace in knowing that an exact replica will replace the tablet. And, we're hoping, and the Post Commander is hoping, that more information about the Monument and the old VFW Post 6097 Hall at 411 Fairground Street will come be recalled during this time. Thanks. - EW 2017-08-04 05:50:04 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
