Laura Ruth Kirby, Nancy, KY (1934-2017)

Laura Ruth was active in the Dunnville Christian Church. She enjoyed having guests in her home and providing hospitality for them. She was passionate about politics. Laura Ruth was an artist, painter, and adventure seeker. She was an entrepreneur and realtor. Her husband of 49 years, Thomas Kirby, survives. She leaves seven direct living descendants.

Laura Ruth Kirby, of Nancy, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset, KY. She was 82.

Funeral services will be at 1pmCT/2pmET, Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Dunnville Christian Church, 11000 South US 127, Dunnville, KY, with Jason and Charlie Fox officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Nancy, KY. Visitation will be from 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at the Dunnville Christian Church and from 11am-1pmCT/12pmNoon-2pmCT, at the Church.

Bessie Louise Johnson, Casey County, KY (1940-2017)

She was a caretaker and a homemaker. Louise was a member of Liberty First Church of God. She enjoyed playing music, singing, writing and was a joy to be around.

Until very recently the ole H had been resting in prolonged dusty repose tucked in the equipment shed next to the tobacco barn, alongside idle tobacco sticks and other well-used implements of a bygone era. Cold, worn, seemingly lifeless--but very much alive in the imagination of a young man from Bennett Ridge.

Yes, Mrs. Kittie Frazer, well-known Columbia and Adair County entrepreneur, will speak to the Adair Genealogical Society and guests on Monday, June 5th, concerning her life and times as a ground-breaking businesswoman of the nineteenth century.

Portrayed by Lee Ann Jessee, Adair County's own head librarian, Mrs. Frazer will come time life again. Some may remember her last earthly appearance, a few years ago at the Columbia Cemetery during an October Silent City Walk.
