Robert Ellis: Beauty near GRL Dam, Taylor Co., KY

Album

Wherever Robert Ellis goes, he captures extraordinary beauty, often in simple things others may notice but might not have an artists eye to capture in his unique way.

This time, staying close to his Cane Valley Home, he created this photo album at around the Green River Dam in the southern part of Taylor County.

Maury Lewis poses two questions, one for city, other for KDH

Maury writes:
I have two questions:
  1. There is a hole on Dohoney Drive in front of the Goodwill store. Isn't the city supposed to be taking care if that road now?

  2. How do we get white lines painted on the edges of KY Hwy 92? When it is dark and raining it is difficult to see the edges of the road. Maury E Lewis
- Maury Lewis
Maury - Good questions. Dohoney Drive has been accepted as a City Street. There is a Citizens Comments opportunity at the Mon 5 Jun City Council Meeting. Perhaps you could utilize that forum to voice your concerns. And your suggestion for white edge striping is an idea shared by many. Maybe we'll hear for authorities on both subjects. In the meantime, civil discussions on the matter are welcome. - EW

Vonnie Kolbenschlag: It is Walker Daniel, not Daniel Walker

Vonnie writes:
Please check with Mike Watson on this, but I can't believe the celebration would make an error listing an impersonation of Daniel Walker. Daniel is the LAST NAME of the man for whom Danville is named! It is listed on the program as Daniel Walker, but it should be Walker Daniel.??? - Vonnie

Poetry by Robert Stone: Future visitings: a sonnet

Future visitings : a sonnet for the birthday of Timothy Spruill
I always say that he is my best friend
but do not claim it works the other way.
I love that comfort we each other lend
without a need to know how gone astray.

He knows that I will eat what is at hand
but fixes memory delights desired.
I love that there is nothing to demand
for feelings common now have been acquired.

He need not ask if I will go along
but knows I thrill just being at his side.
I love that we are sure our bond is strong
and never doubt that steadfast hopes abide.

Postponed day trips on bucket list of things
may come to pass on future visitings
~ Robert Stone, 1 June 2017

Doug McCammish - You're probably right; maybe Billy Joe Fudge remembers. Some present day landmarks - except for the shape of the hill in the background, simply aren't there. Thanks for raising the question. - EW
