Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources Local citizens are becoming increasingly concerned about the spread of Poison Hemlock, a noxious weed with toxic properties. Poison Hemlock can be toxic if ingested by livestock or humans. Cattle, goats and horses are considered to be the most susceptible animals, but other animals can consume it. If ingested, poison symptoms appear within 30 minutes to two hours, depending on several factors including the animal species and quantity consumed. Lethal doses for cattle range between 0.2 and 0.5 percent of the animal's weight. Paul Glen Combest, 76, Casey/Jefferson/Adair Counties, KY (1941-2017) Paul graduated from Liberty High School in 1958 and earned a B.B.A. from Eastern Kentucky University in 1962. He was a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army as an Armored Officer, he served 13 months in Korea as a Recon Platoon Leader and flew the Demilitaried Zone as an Aerial Observer; he rose to the rank of Captain. Paul retired from Ford Motor Company, Kentucky Truck Plant after 34 years. Paul was awarded Kentucky Colonel and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
