After collecting more than 3200 boxes last year we decided to set a goal this year of 3500 boxes realizing that that would be a difficult task. However, thanks to the love and generosity of the people of Adair and surrounding counties we have reached our goal and even exceeded it. The official number of Operation Christmas Child boxes collected in Adair County in 2016 is 3777 boxes. I want to thank all of the individuals, organizations and churches that have sacrificed so much to make this such a huge success. Although evidence does point to the probability that the recovery is the remains of Whitney Danielle Copley, missing since September 30/October 1, 2015 from the Dunnville area near where the remains were recovered, a final identification awaits a report from the State Medical Examiner's office. Heiner announces Nicholas Co. as latest Work Ready Community Now 33 of Kentucky's 120 counties have been certified as Work Ready Communities Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet Secretary Hal Heiner announced on Friday, November 18, 2016 that Nicholas County has been added as the latest Kentucky Work Ready Community. The Central Kentucky community, whose county seat is Carlisle, joins the 32 counties of Adair, Boone, Bourbon, Boyd, Boyle, Bullitt, Caldwell, Campbell, Clark, Daviess, Fleming, Greenup, Hardin, Henderson, Hopkins, Kenton, Madison, Marshall, McCracken, Mercer, Montgomery, Nelson, Nicholas, Oldham, Pulaski, Rowan, Shelby, Trigg, Union, Warren, Washington and Woodford Counties which have been designated as Kentucky Work Ready Communities since certification began in February 2012.
