Lindy Forbes, educator, chosen as 'Distinguished Alumna'

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University's Distinguished Alumna has become notable for her teaching and was recognized for such during Homecoming.

Lindy Forbes ('87) served as an educator in Barren, Green and Hart county school systems of which the last 10 years were spent teaching science to middle schoolers.

2016 Chair's Challenge final total: $416,765.59!

Final total is up more than $150,000 over the 2015 amount. Total donors this year came to 1,934 - exceeding President Luckey's goal of 1,903. Gifts will be added to the college's scholarship fund.

Adair County Kentucky Executive Order bans open burning

Open Burning Ban Issued 11/05/2016
Ban is around the clock

WHEREAS, KRS 149.401 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes provides that the County Judge Executive may authorize the implementation of an open burning ban during fire hazard periods; and

WHEREAS, the County Judge Executive has determined that a fire hazard period exists; and

WHEREAS, until Adair County receives sufficient rainfall to mitigate the fire hazard period, the ban shall remain in effect.

NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby ORDERED by Michael Lee Stephens, Adair County Judge Executive, pursuant to KRS 149.401, that a fire hazard period exists and an open burning ban will remain in effect until further notice. Any violation of this open burning ban may subject to the penalties set forth in KRS 149.990(2).

T-ville Bears lost only one game at mystery photo location

Wayne Baxter was exactly right when he placed the mystery photo of bricks looking into more bricks at the old EHS gym in Metcalfe County. He wrote, "If my memory is correct, the Mighty Tompkinsville Bears basketball team lost only one regular season game in the 1956-57 season and it was at that site. Kenny Carroll, 82, Taylor Co., KY (1934-2016)

He was the owner of Carroll's Plumbing and Heating and enjoyed serving the community for over 60 years in this capacity. In 1948 he made a profession of faith and joined Campbellsville Baptist Church where he faithfully served over the years in various roles. He was a Deacon, a member of the Lowell Harris Sunday School Class, and head of the Ushers and could be found each Sunday in the front lobby shaking hands and welcoming all those in attendance. Kenny was an avid Dodgers and UK fan and could be found enjoying a round of golf on a regular basis after starting his day with a cup of coffee with several of his buddies.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team scored 11-second half goals to sprint past Pikeville (Ky.) 15-0 in the Mid-South Conference Quarterfinals on Friday afternoon, November 4, 2016, at Warren East High School.

The victory moves the Blue Raiders (12-4-1) into the semifinal round next Thursday against the winner of Cumberlands (KY) and Shawnee State (Ohio). Pikeville's (4-13-0) season comes to an end with the loss.

Six different Blue Raiders accounted for the scoring, each collecting at least two goals. Mid-South Conference Player of the Year Aleksi Pahkasalo led all scorers with four, while Mutaya Mwape collected a hat trick. Andrew Revanales, Andres Riquelme, Storm Lilly and Lawson Crider each recorded a pair of goals.

Dan Flanagan inducted into KY Poultry Hall of Fame

Kentucky poultry farmer, Dan Flanagan, Taylor County, Kentuckian who grew up in Russell County, KY, was recently recognized at the 2016 Kentucky Poultry Festival.

Mr. Flanagan was an inductee into the Kentucky Poultry Federation's "Hall of Fame."

The "Hall of Fame" recognizes individuals who have helped Kentucky's poultry industry develop into the thriving agriculture commodity that it is today in the state of Kentucky.

The Adair County FFA Land Judging place 2nd in the state competition in Hardinsburg, KY on November 3, 2016. The team competed against the top two teams from 12 different regions. The Adair County team will now advance to national competition in Oklahoma City in May. Team members are Susan Spinks, Paige Grider, Schyler Vanarsdale and Alex Barker.
