CU Board Chairman Owens honors the team

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - "It is amazing that this university received me and invested in me even when I didn't invest in myself," Dr. Joseph L. Owens, chair of Campbellsville University's Board of Trustees, and pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Lexington, KY, said at Campbellsville University's 37th annual President's Club dinner.

Owens said just like every movie, Campbellsville University has a story to tell. "Behind the scenes there are a group of people who help the university be all that it can be," Owens said.

Green County Grand Jury returns indictments 2 Nov 2016

Indictments brought against four individuals from Greensburg, Canmer, and Campbellsville, KY for charges including assault, theft, burglary, criminal mischief, and possession.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Ms. Jean Gibson Irby, 68, Burkesville, KY (1948-2016)

Jean was a talented entertainer. She started singing as a child and was a regular performer at Renfro Valley. The only thing that outshined her musical talent was her ability as a cook. She was a member of Burkesville First United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Campbellsville College and her Master’s Degree and Rank I at Western Kentucky University. She was a school teacher for the Adair County Board of Education and the Cumberland County Board of Education, beginning her teaching career in 1970 and retiring in 2001. She was a member of a highly regarded Breeding, KY, area family, and a resident of Burkesville, KY, at the time of her death. Her final resting place will be in the Fudge Cemetery in Adair Co., KY

Actions of deputies, use of NARCAN save life of ACRJ Inmate

An hour and a half after booking, Chief Deputy Eric Antle found inmate was not breathing, lips purple. Nurse Rita Bray administers CPR, and administered new drug for OD patients, NARCAN for only the second time in jail's history. Inmate later taken to hospital by Adair EMS and Jailer Joey White, who thinks more lives could be saved with more deputy jailers on the floor and hopes all of his employees can be trained to administer NARCAN

The life of an inmate at the Adair County Jail was saved due to the quick actions of Deputies and Medical staff and a new drug being used called NARCAN, that is used to reverse the effects of opioids.

Columbia man crashes 2.5 hours before cries for help heard

His vehicle went over an embankment at approximately 5:30pmCT; because of injuries he as unable to call for assistance. Neighbor hears him after daylight and ACSO responds to dispatch at around 8amCT. Adair Fire Department also responds.

At approximately 8amCT on Friday, November 4, 2016, Deputy Aaron Rainwater was dispatched to an injury accident 3.5 miles east of Columbia, KY, on Edmonton Road.

David Wheat age 23 of Columbia was operating a 1990 Nissan Pick up when he lost control of his vehicle, ran off the road over an embankment, and struck several trees.

COLUMBIA, KY - Area residents will have an opportunity to learn about the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) on veterans.

Marj Graves, a former United States Army Nurse Corps Captain during the Vietnam War, will give the keynote address of this year's Dr. Henry Baughman Visiting Fellows Program Lecture Series. She will speak at 9:30amCT Tuesday, November 8, 2016 on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College, in the Dr. Robert and Carol Goodin Nursing & Counseling Center, Room 203/204, 402 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY. The talk is free and open to the public.

SAN DIEGO, CA (Thu 3 Nov 2016) I was in San Diego, California at the True North Tavern celebrating the Cubs World Series win with my friends from Spring Training and we laughed and joked all year about watching game 7 together and watching the Chicago Cubs win the World Series.

After 108 years the Chicago Cubs are World Series Champions.

Cardenas, who is from Venezuela, said he began painting about four years ago when he came to the United States.

BOWLING GREEN, KY - For the second season in a row, Aleksi Pahksalo is the Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Year, the conference office announced on Thursday evening, November 3, 2016, at the MSC Awards Banquet held at the National Corvette Museum.

He earns the eighth MSC Player of the Year honor in program history and becomes just the second Blue Raider to collect the honor twice in a career, along with former student-athlete Bonivenger Misiko (2005, 2007).

Last Friday's tragic accident claimed its third life Wednesday morning, Nov. 2, 2016, when Adair County Middle School student Raquel Anyega passed away after spending several days in critical condition at UK Medical Center. While the community continues to mourn Raquel's loss, friends and teachers say they will cherish their memories with her for the rest of their lives.
