KY Afield Outdoors: Modern gun deer season on tap By Kevin Kelly Frankfort, KY - Shredded bark on saplings, fresh scrapes along old logging trails and trail camera snapshots of passing bucks are encouraging signs that deer activity is picking up across Kentucky and just in time. "Deer are going to be moving," said Gabe Jenkins, deer program coordinator with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. This year, the modern firearm season runs through Nov. 27 in counties assigned by Kentucky Fish and Wildlife to Zone 1 or 2 and through Nov. 21 in Zone 3 and 4 counties. President Coolidge on Americans' responsibility to vote "They Have No Right To Say They Do Not Care, They Must Care!" On November 3, 1924, President Calvin Coolidge went on radio to voice a reminder to American citizens of a truth that is just as valid today as it was then: "All the opportunity for self-government through the rule of the people depends upon one single factor. That is the ballot box... The people of our country are sovereign. If they do not vote they abdicate that sovereignty, and they may be entirely sure that if they relinquish it other forces will seize it, and if they fail to govern themselves some other power will rise up to govern them.
