News from Western Kentucky University

BOWLING GREEN, KY - (Wed 02 Nov 2016) - After Kentucky's wettest July and August on record, state climatologist Stuart Foster wasn't expecting to be talking about drought conditions by early November. But dry and warm conditions in September and October have changed that conversation.

"The record wet July and early August was followed by a sudden switch to an extremely dry pattern from late August through October," Dr. Foster said. "We are now in the early stages of drought across Kentucky due to lack of precipitation and the unusually warm temperatures."

JIM sends short version, social message of Jesus' teachings

By JIM

These words were uttered over breakfast with my friend (and occasional unindicted co-conspirator), Dane.
  • Play nicely with others.
  • Help those who need it.
  • Don't judge.
We generally stay on non-controversial subjects such as football and politics; I don't exactly rec'lect how the conversation strayed that morning into the rarefied atmosphere of Jesus' social message.

Is it just my imagination, or do those bullet points -- the Reader's Digest version of the red-letter words of the New Testament -- ring of something Pete Walker might have said in one of his seven-course meal-in-a-nutshell Sunday School lessons? - JIM
