Meggitt Aircraft expands in Danville, KY

Dedication of $9.3 million, 66-job project celebrates growth at wheel-and-braking systems producer, indicates potential future commitments

FRANKFORT, KY (Tue 18 Oct 2016) - Gov. Matt Bevin today joined local officials and executives from Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems (MABS) to dedicate a 66-job, $9.3 million expansion of the company's Danville manufacturing and distribution campus, a location that could well see continued investment.

"Over the past decade, Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems has become a substantial employer and a major player in Boyle County's economy," said Gov. Bevin. "This new expansion represents the company's ongoing commitment to central Kentucky and exemplifies the Commonwealth's increasing role in the global aerospace industry.

Community walk to raise awareness about breast cancer

COLUMBIA, KY - LWC Relay for Life will organize a community walk on Saturday, October 22, 2016, to raise awareness about breast cancer.

The walk will begin at the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center, 299 Williams Street, and will conclude at Blue Raider Stadium, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY.

The event, which is free and open to the public, includes a free t-shirt for participants and free admission to the LWC vs. Reinhardt (GA) University football game that begins at 1pmCT.

Breast cancer survivors will be recognized during the game.

DOCJT graduates 24 from Public Safety Dispatch Academy

Local graduates include Valerie Jean Baker of Russell County 911, and Juanita Wells of Barren/Metcalfe County 911

Richmond, KY - Twenty-four law enforcement dispatchers graduated Friday from the Public Safety Dispatch Academy at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training.

The graduates hail from communications centers across the state, and comprise DOCJT's 108th telecommunications academy class, which first began in 1999.

LWC Athletics Auction scheduled for Saturday night

For the 30th consecutive year, the Lindsey Wilson College athletic department is set to host its annual athletic auction. The 2016 LWC Athletic Auction is scheduled for 6pmCT on Saturday, October 22, at the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, 430 Helen Flatt Dr., Columbia.

The athletics auction's purpose is to raise funds to benefit the student-athletes currently involved in 32 varsity, junior varsity and club sports at Lindsey Wilson.

Traffic Advisory: KY 152 In Marion County, KY

Intermittent delays possible during environmental cleanup

Environmental crews will be working along KY 152 near the KY 49 intersection in Marion County, KY, on Tue & Wed, 18-19 Oct 2016. A commercial vehicle crash on Saturday resulted in a diesel spill. As a follow up to Saturday's cleanup operations, work on Tuesday and Wednesday may result in intermittent lane blockages on KY 152 between 6amCT/7amET and 3:30pmCT/4:30pmET. Trucks will be entering and exiting the roadway. Marion County Sheriff's Department personnel will be providing assistance with traffic control. Short delays are possible.

Kevin Lee Riddle, 39, Cumberland Co., KY (1977-2016)

He was an salesman for Carl Black Chevrolet in Nashville, and was a member of Burkesville Baptist Church. Kevin loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and had a great love for music. He played bass for the band Dusty Jane. Kevin battled diabetes and kidney disease for many years and had been on the kidney transplant waitlist since March. He was the son of Robert & Betty Daniels Riddle, who survive, as does his fiance', Vicki Weatherford. He leaves two direct and one step living descendants.
