COLUMBIA, KY (September 13, 2016) - 33-year-old Jonathon Bryant, of Columbia, has been arrested and charged with Assault 1st degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Mrs. Emma Eulean Vaughn, 88, Green Co, KY (1928-2016)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Brush Creek Baptist Church. She was also retired from the State of Kentucky Highway-Rest Area Department.

Mrs. Emma Eulean Vaughn of Green County, Kentucky, daughter of the late John Luther Walker, and Lilly Alton Berry Walker, was born on February 4, 1928 in Green County, and departed this life on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Grandview Nursing and Rehab Center in Campbellsville, Kentucky. She was 88 years, seven months and seven days of age.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Tuesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT Wednesday until time of the funeral service. The funeral services for Mrs. Emma Eulean Vaughn will be conducted at 10amCT, Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 South Main St., Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Green County Memory Gardens. Bro. Dannie Nelson will officiate.

Volunteer Lakeshore Cleanup is Sat 17 Sept 2016

The US Army Corps of Engineers' 30th Annual Volunteer Lakeshore Cleanup will be held on September 17, 2016 this year. Registration and trash pickup are from 9am-NoonET. A free lunch and prize giveaway begins at 12:30pmET at the Green River Lake State Park (Lone Valley) Picnic Shelter.

To participate in trash pickup just show up at one of the following locations: Site One boat ramp, Smith Ridge boat ramp, Holmes Bend boat ramp, or the State Park boat ramp. For more information call 270-465-4463.

Rain washes out Lindsey Wilson Men's Golf final round

Lind claims medalist honors at Coastal Georgia Invite

St Simons Island, GA - Heavy rains washed out today's final round of the Coastal Georgia Invite at the Sea Island Golf Club Retreat Course.

With today's cancelation, the tournament reverts back to the final round completed -- yesterday's second round -- for the final official results. Lindsey Wilson finished fourth overall while Rasmus Lind earned the individual title in his first collegiate event.

William Clyde Kean, Sr., 62, Russell Co., KY (1953-2016)

He was a truck driver. He was a member of the Russell County High graduating class of 1971. He was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the lat William A. & Dorothy Woods Kean. His long time companion, Gail Kean, survives. He leaves six direct living descendants.

Hailey Taylor earns spot on Heartland All-Conference Team

The annual girls and boys Heartland Conference Golf Tournament was hosted by Washington County at the Lincoln Homestead Golf Course in Springfield, Kentucky, on Monday, September 12, 2016. Six (6) teams from Adair, Green, Campbellsville Independent, Taylor, Marion, and Washington Counties made an appearance during the tournament.

Hailey Taylor of Adair County, who posted an 83 for the day, earned a spot on the Heartland All-Conference Team. Joining Hailey were Abbie Dicken from Campbellsville Independent, Madison Ferreri from Taylor County, and Gracie Parrott and Skye Moss from Green County.

Entertainers educate students on eastern art and culture

Adair County Middle School students were treated to a traditional Chinese performance and magic show Tuesday morning in the school's gymnasium. The show, dubbed "Amazing China," featured world-renowned Chinese performers and was presented by the Confucius Institute at Western Kentucky University in conjunction with the New York Chinese Traditional Art Center.

"This is a great opportunity for our students to be exposed to other cultures and their art," ACMS Principal Alma Rich says. "Nothing you can find online can equal what you get out of a live performance. It's definitely not something you would typically see around here."

Caregivers invited to free support group lunch meeting

The Adair County Caregiver support group will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 11amCT at the Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY. A light lunch is served and the meetings are free and open to the public.

The Caregiver Support Group meets in Columbia the first Wednesday of each month where all who provide care for another person are welcome to hear information about different types of helpful resources and discuss solutions to challenges.

CHS girls golf player finishes in top half at state tournament

Campbellsville High School girls' golf player Abbie Dicken finished in the top half of competitors at the All "A" state tournament at Woodson Bend in Bronston on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Dicken, a sophomore, finished the course in 97 strokes, to tie for 24th place. There were 97 competitors in the tournament. David Payne is the CHS girls' golf coach.
