Remembering Dr. Phil Aaron -- from Judy Draper

Judy Draper of Campbellsville was Dr. Phil Aaron's: nurse for several years and she wrote this note at the announcement of his passing:
"I worked for this Doctor for several years! Good man with a love for people! People came in when they had no money to buy meds and he many times would send me to the drug store to get their meds, and pay for it himself, very unselfish, friend to many."

2016-08-11 - Photo by Lee McClellan. The 136-day Kentucky archery deer season kicks off Saturday, Sept. 3. The season looks similar to the past several in which Kentucky deer hunters racked up a string of record harvests. Hunters in the state harvested more than 155,000 deer last season, establishing a new record. This number included 55 male deer that met the minimum score for entry into the Boone and Crockett Club's awards book.

After a long and hopefully relaxing and rejuvenating summer break, almost 2,700 Adair County students returned to school today, August 11, 2016.

All students share a bit of excitement and trepidation when school starts back, but students' experiences in 2016-2017 will vary greatly from grade to grade and school to school. This fact is best demonstrated by looking at this year's senior class.

Dr. Phil Aaron made Organ Donor Program priority for last years

Adair County is mourning the loss of a man whose life made such a huge difference in how medical care is provided. One of his major contributions, also, was to change a then dismal organ donor acceptance in the county. Phillip Reeves (Phil) Aaron, M.D. 70, Adair Co., KY (1945-2016) A memorial service for Dr. Aaron will be at 11amCT, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Columbia Baptist Church, 201 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.
The gift of a kidney from a Chinese immigrant construction worker in New York, changed his life. Dr. Aaron said, at the first of 2011, that he'd be making increasing the level of participation in the Trust for Life organ donor program the number one priority in the remaining time he had to practice.

He wrote in a moving, very personal story Dr. Phil R. Aaron: A Gift for the New Year 'It has been of great concern to me that although we Adair Countians are certainly the most giving, the most caring group of individuals statewide - we lag behind when it comes to organ donation.'
