By: Shamarie Claiborne
Adair County Board of Education District Migrant Recruiter/Media Promotions/Technology

This week May 4-8 is Teacher Appreciation Week across the Commonwealth. I personally had two teachers that really made an impact on me. The first one is Mrs. Holt in 5th Grade because she was the first public school teacher I had ever had. The second was my High School English Teacher, Mrs. Judie Alley, who I love and stay in touch with even now that I am a grown woman.

New Episode: Vexations of Miss Victoria, perils of politics

It ain't easy being a Democrat in Adair County, much less running a Democrat political machine here. If Miss Lennie McLaughlin had to put up with what Miss Victoria has to endure, her great old political organization couldn't have even named a janitor at UL, much less a department head there. Yesterday, when we left Miss Victoria, she had already met with and impressed Democratic Attorney General candidate Andy Beshear, and had announced a respite from politics for the afternoon to repair her gated entrance, pretty nigh destroyed by an idiot driver who didn't know a parkway ramp from his nether depth. On her return to town and politics, to her Center of Power/World Domination Headquarters (Adair County has many of these. Several within a three building span of Burkesville Street, many more on the Public Square, and maybe ne or two on Campbellsville Street, where the Dennis Loy outfit is located), she encountered yet another challenge which would have driven a lesser leader into a lunatic asylum. But not Miss Victoria. Herein continues the saga. - ED, A loyal member of the Miss Vicky Faction of the Adair County Democratic Party.

When all else fails, meet in the cool air

By Victoria Pike, President
Adair County Democratic Women's Club

Interesting meeting.

Got stuff in and went back to get something and door was locked with purse and phone in it.

Had to go to Miss Sue's to get another key and she was gone.

Analysis, Registered Voters: From Great Wooded South U

POLITICAL SCIENCE
Comments re article 75028 More Voters than ever registered in Kentucky

By Billy Joe Fudge

The political science department at Great Wooded South University has \"put the pencil\" to the registered voter numbers for Kentucky.
  • Total population for Kentucky is 4,339,367
  • Registered voters - 3 ,175,905
  • Unregistered voters - 1,163,462
  • Population under 18 - 1,019,685
  • Eligible but unregistered - 143,777
However, in their search for numbers, several heretofore reliable online census sources only have 117 counties in Kentucky with no Adair County.

Note: soon as the semester ends, finals are complete and our staff gets a couple days of much needed rest, the research will continue in an effort to find the three missing counties particularly our own Adair County.

As an addendum to the note, due to the recent extended bitter cold and snowy winter weather, some have suggested that there has been a massive northward shift of the Caribbean Tectonic Plate which may have pushed Adair County all the way to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

If so, we may now be Michiganders or maybe even Yoopers. Lord help us all.

- Billy Joe Fudge
