Freddie McDonald, 79, Casey County, KY (1935-2015)

Freddie was a farmer, logger, and factory worker. He love to hunt, fish and farm but most of all he loved his family. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler and was always willing to help anyone. He was the son of the late Luther McDonald and Tilda Catgherine Luttrell McDonald. His wife of 61 years, Mary Jo Emerson Mcdonald, survives. He leaves 26 direct living descendants.

Freddie McDonald passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. He was 79.

Funeral services are 1pmCT/2pmET, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Rev. Don Burton officiating. Burial is in Thomas Ridge Cemetery.Visitation is Wednesday from 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET at the funeral home. More Voters than ever registered in Kentucky

Nearly 3.2 million Kentuckians appear on the voter rolls ahead of the May 19 Primary Election, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced today.

The total number of registered voters - 3,175,905 - constitutes a new record, beating the 3,147,157 registered for the General Election held in November 2014. The difference is an increase of approximately 1%, or 28,748 voters, over five months.

Lane closures on I-75 in Rockcastle Co. begin May 10th

Pavement improvements should be complete by August 1st

SOMERSET, Ky. (May 4, 2015) – Beginning Sunday May 10, current nighttime lane closures on Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County will be increased to 24-hour closures as crews continue pavement improvement project.

North and southbound lane reductions beginning at mile point 65.22 and ending at mile point 68.78 will increase to a 24-hour period daily Sunday through Thursday for approximately six weeks. No lane closures will occur between 7 a.m. Fridays through 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Metcalfe Countians may get NOAA radios Sat 9 May 2016

Proof of Metcalfe residency required

Metcalfe County Judge Greg Wilson, Metcalfe County Fiscal Court, and Metcalfe County Emergency Management will distribute NOAA weather radios 8am-3pmCT, Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Metcalfe County Road Department, 100 Scott Drive, Edmonton, KY. Each occupied structure in Metcalfe County may receive one radio.

A driver's license or utility bill may be used to establish proof of residence in Metcalfe County.

Those picking up a radio for antoher family or business are asked to bring a letter from the person and proof of their residence in Metcalfe County.

Campbellsville University Endowment Luncheon makes history

FRANKFORT, KY (May 2, 2015) - For the second time in a week, Kentucky has received approval for a presidential disaster declaration. Governor Steve Beshear was notified late Friday that President Barack Obama has authorized federal assistance for Kentucky and its citizens in designated counties that suffered significant damage during the April flooding event.

"Kentucky has been hit hard by historic weather events these past few months, and the damage has been overwhelming in some communities," said Gov. Beshear. "I appreciate the quick decision by FEMA, which will assist those individuals and local governments impacted by the April as they repair damages from that flooding event."

COLUMBIA, KY - During the month of April 2015, there were 18 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

There were three fatal collisions during the month of April in the Post 15 area.
