By Celia Downey

Apparently Spring has sprung.

This afternoon there was a loud persistent screeching from the garage and behold, it was a baby Robin hopping and hollering beneath the car.

Finally, after much effort, the mighty creature was captured in my hand but still the baby put up a valiant flapping effort to escape.

Next Previous Happy Tail: Happy Tail: Regrets overwhelmed, but Eden made them go away

Another Kentucky Derby has come and gone. I had the TV on from 9 am until it was over at 6 pm. I watched the celebrities come in on the red carpet. I saw how to make the mint juleps that were selling for $1,000 and then the ones that were selling for $2,500. I heard that $112 million were wagered that day - $60 million on the Derby alone. American Pharoah, the favorite, won the Derby. Now everyone's wondering if we will have another Triple Crown winner this year.

The Art of Ken Follett

I keep being impressed with the works of writer Ken Follett. Beginning with his 1978 novel, Eye of the Needle and continuing down to the present, Follett has been a pleasure to read and re-read.

I have to confess to the delights of re-reading most of what he has written even when I know the intricacies of plot ahead of time.
