James Roberts: On bypass, video surveillance, automatic tickets

He suggests bypassing the bypass. Cumberland Parkway is much safer than Bypass at this time. For the intersections on the Bypass, install video cameras: Run the light on red and receive a ticket in the mail

James Roberts
Personal Commentary

I would like to comment on this bypass dilemma that we ALL are concerned about. I don't know how many times that I've seen vehicles drive right through the intersections on the bypass.

Today was no exception as I witnessed a silver Mercedes go right through the intersection when our light was green.

How the I-Beams were put in House of Billiards

Sammy Sandusky and Jr. Dial came up with the idea for the beams to make the pool room building free span. Darlow Rexroat and his Dad were the contractors who installed them. The beams came from, where else? Sandusky Steel. The pool room was an instant hit, and benefitted the nearby Columbian Theatre and made downtown busier all around.
About: Arthur Lee Waggener in the M&W Auto Parts

By Ralph Roy Waggener

Sammy Sandusky an Jr. Dial were the ones who came up with the idea for the beams to be put in running from Pilaster to Pilaster. Darlo Rexroat and his dad, (can't remember his first name and not sure how to spell Darlo ) were the ones who did the work, I believe some of the us and some of our customers help raise the beams.

Letter: Park and Pray needs better parking option

Nancy Hadley writes:
I am 100% for praying for the right thing of what needs to be done on the bypass, I'm just concerned if parking on the shoulders of the parkway is the best place to park. Curious people and other people not knowing why it's happening could cause a worse wreck than the ones we've had three. The old Oshkosh parking lot would be a much safer choice, further off the road and not a distraction. Just concerned about what could happen not trying to say not do it, just a better choice of parking should be made. --Nancy Hadley

Celia Downey: GRAWL Bake Sale looked like a Panera or Riley's

Outpouring shows support for our Animal Shelter

By Celia Downey

Hi Ed, this morning I delivered some baked goods to the Green River Animal Welfare League Bake Sale in the lobby of IGA. So many homemade and delicious baked goods were there.

The homemade food display was delicious, just like a Panera Bread or the Riley’s Bakery in Bowling Green. The outpouring shows that the people in Adair County want to support our animal shelter. However, there was a problem, I forgot my CAMERA(!); a picture is worth a thousand words. Celia

Charles Marshburn offers this 'solvation' for bypass dilemma

A sign will do

As to the solvation (?) of the bypass dilemma, all that is needed is a sign. It should read, "Mine Field!". The big pencil could be attached to the traffic light and that should also get attention where it is needed. No, don't thank me! - Charles Marshburn
