LWC Wrestling tops NCAA Division II member Shorter 30-19

LOUISVILLE, KY. - The Lindsey Wilson wrestling team defeated NCAA Division II member Shorter (GA) University 30-19 on Saturday evening, January 3, 2014, at Fern Creek High School. The Blue Raiders are now 3-6 this season in duals, facing NCAA Division I or Division II institutions in all nine duals.

Betty J. Gorin's book, "Morgan Is Coming" 2006, p. 170 states that the Green River Iron Bridge was built in 1907. It replaced the 1863 wooden bridge which had been built by Union troops to replace an earlier wooden bridge that Confederate General John Hunt Morgan's troops had burned. - Vonnie K

COLUMBIA, KY – The Lindsey Wilson men’s basketball defeated visiting MidAmerica Nazarene (KS) by a final score of 89-66 on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders (9-7) led from coast to coast on their way to claiming a nonconference victory over the Pioneers (3-9). Lindsey Wilson shot 57.1 percent in the opening half (16-of-28) to build a 41-24 edge at halftime.

Hugh Russell, Russell County, KY (1933-2014)

He was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident at the time of his death. he was the son of the late Mary Louetta (Wilson) and Thomas Blair Russell. His wife, Dorothy (Weddle) Russell, survives. He leaves 16 direct living descendants. He was a member of Clear Springs Missionary Baptist Church and a farmer.

Hazel J. (Young) Morrison, Adair Co., KY (1929-2014)

She was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and was a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mattie (Bean) Young and the widow of Jim Morrison. She leaves 15 direct living descendants.She was a homemaker, sold Avon and worked at Easy Wash Laundromat in Chesterfield, IN. She was a member of Eastview Church of the Nazarene and played music at various nursing homes.

Bro. Orville E. Noe, Green County, KY (1921-2014)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a retired minister, and a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Noe was also a WWII Veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a native of Nancy County, Nebraska and a resident of Green County, KY at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Victor H. Noe and Julia Ann Blooyd Noe.
