Gas Drum Beat: Columbia 10 cents lower than Somerset city Ed Pipalski writes: Dear Ed, Where is the rejoicing in “free-markets” over the gas price drop in Columbia? Today and all-weekend, Columbia has been a dime lower than the taxpayer funded “state-run market” of Somerset! We agree with the Oil Producing and Exporting Countries (OPEC) cartel overseas, it is hardly a truly “fair-market”, but it was American entrepreneurship with hydraulic fracturing (fracking) that created competition in spite of federal bureaucratic interference and over-regulation. Rejoice and enjoy the rewards of free-market capitalism, the worst economic system in the world, except for all the others. --Ed PipalskiEd: The answer to you question is it's right here. You just wrote the rejoicing. - EW 2014-12-15 09:14:27 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Commentary

Joe Hare: Great event in Campbellsville for Vietnam Vets Comments re article 71869 Huge crowd in Campbellsville for Vietnam Veterans Parade Joe Hare writes: Great event in Campbellsville today. I enjoyed seeing all the Viet Vets. Thanks to Bam and Max Wise for getting this together. On the down side I really think they are using a "preachers count," if there were 2000 there, a lot of them were hidden in and behind the buildings on Main Street. - Joe HareThanks, Joe HareThe numbers were an early estimate eyeballed from the Big Dawg Studio's. Larry Smith has revised that number downward a bit, estimating the crowd at 1,500-2,000; maybe there were more, maybe less. If we receive an official police estimate, we'll revise the artile. In any case, as you say, it was a great event. One we hope will be, as the planners hoped, an annual event to be held closer to Veterans' Day in the future. - EW 2014-12-15 08:13:36 | Comments | Printable version
