These kids are awesome and they will be headed south, home to Adair County, in a little over one-half hour. They will be departing Indianapolis at 9:30amCT-ish and will arrive in Columbia at around 2pmCT with the bands 3rd BoA National Championship - and the first in 7 years. ADAIR has now won national championships in 2005, 2007, and this year, 2014. We've been told there will be a major escort meeting the Champions on Campbellsville Road to to bring them onto the Columbia Public Square. We'll post the exact route from there to Adair County High School as soon as it is learned. We're hoping a large crowd will greet the ADAIR Band this afternoon. Happy Tail: One tough cookie, Buffy, the Great Pyrenees, a hero Georgina was an 80 year old immigrant to Kentucky from Connecticut, who settled in Hodgenville, LaRue County, with her menagerie of animals, which she added to with the adoption of two half starved Great Pyrenees, Fluffy and Buffy. Buffy 'paid it forward,' by saving Georgina's life by pulling her out of a hole and broken her hip. into which she had fallen, and pulling her to into the house, to safety. Peg Schaeffer, a long time friend, encourages readers to send cards to the gallant lady, who has no family in Kentucky and is now in Frazier Rebab, to address at end of this story. Joey, an excellent swimmer, turns the fall into a dive and swims toward the Florida coast. Just at the moment of total exhaustion Joey is nudged by what she believes to be a shark. At that point she passes out. The shark turns out to be a bale of Jamaican pot, thrown overboard by a smuggler in panic. Joey is rescued the following morning by ex-prosecutor Mick Stanahan who has fled his job and his ex-wives, which include five waitresses and a television producer, for a life on an otherwise uninhabited island with a Doberman who cannot swim.
