Gerald Doss: What do non-city residents get for Payroll Tax? Gerald Doss writes: My message is short, but not very sweet: What exactly do those of us who live in the county and work in town get for this stupid tax? Is it 12-15 policemen in town for our protection. I hardly ever see a police officer, except one driving by in a high powered gas guzzler. I can't think of any other benefit. - Gerald DossThanks, Gerald Doss, for your comment: There are a zillion things Columbia offers, a little bit of which the City affords everyone, including in-commuters from the hinterland. Surely the culture and enlightenment, alone, would be worth the paltry additional tax. As for the police, would you put them on foot or on a bicycle in this day and age? Just asking. Surely not. - EW 2014-09-12 09:00:29 | Comments | Printable version
