Supt. Alan W. Reed - Tax rate essentially unchanged for 2014 Compensating rate approved is based on formula with a goal of school property tax revenue being the same as last year. Superintendent Reed says that some taxpayers may see a very slightly lower bill, some may pay a very slightly higher bill, but overall, he said, the school board is anticipating the same property tax revenues and last fiscal year. He says that Adair County was one of the few School Districts which did not adopt a 4% rate increase. "We were able to do this because of school consolidation and other fiscal changes that saved the district substantial dollars." By Alan W. Reed, Superintendent Adair County School District At last Thursday evening's school board meeting the board elected not to pass the 4% increase for next year but instead chose to take the compensating rate, plus exonerations (prior year losses). By going with the compensating tax rate for 2014-15, the school district will bring in approximately the same revenue as it did this year, 2013-14.
