Even handheld computer armed Junior Stotts stumped

Does anyone remember a picture of a tree stump so big a team and wagon could be placed atop it?

Ralph Roy Waggener writes:
I was asked by Jerry Loy if I ever knew of a photo of a tree stump with a team and wagon sitting on it. He thought it was in the Cane Valley area of Adair County. This brought on quite a discussion at Downey's Quick Stop Restaurant, Friday morning. Even Jr. Stotts, armed with his handheld computer, was STUMPED on this question. Maybe some ColumbiaMagazine readers will know. - Ralph Waggener
Thanks. Good question: Anybody out there know. - EW

Hates to see old houses disappearing

Joyce M. Coomer writes:
So sad these wonderful old houses are disappearing - and not all by arson - some deliberately torn down because they are "old" and you "can't do anything with an old house." The old houses are much better constructed than most people wish to believe. The architecture is stately and personable. I miss the old houses that have disappeared through the years. The architecture is stately and personable. --Joyce M Coomer

Does any reader know a reliable source for comparing the number of bank robberies today compared to other eras?

One might assume that South Central Kentucky is living in a Bonnie and Clyde period.

But hard statistics might not bear that out - and hard statistics should be more meaningful. Any help appreciated. - CM
