Majority would line up and support a logical plan to save hospital

Billy Joe Fudge comments:
Whew, what a mess.

I think there is a considerable majority in Adair County who would line up behind and support a logical plan to save our hospital once that plan is laid bare before us.

For right now there are too many unanswered questions leaving us all with the lingering feeling that there is no solid ground beneath the quagmire and to step any further from terra firma would be folly.

I feel reasonably sure that until we know the answers to our questions, we see positive constructive changes in management, we know the debts and sins of the past are being recompensed and a well thought out plan for the future is presented in full to us, we the people will not support this apparent immoral suasion.

Vicky Pike on hospital tax hearing: Waste of time

Vicky Pike comments:
Just give them a blank check. No questions asked. Typical Adair County. And if you do ask, it is confidential. If I am paying for it, I need to know what I am paying for EXACTLY and I want it in writing.

Looks like the citizens of Adair County need some legal representation of their own. Ponder that. - Vicky Pike

Hospital one of most critical issues community may ever face

Mike Newton comments

Westlake Hospital IS one of this county's most valuable assets...we have absolutely no chance of having any sort of economic growth without this facility. I can't imagine this county being the only one around without a hospital; however, I think that a lot of us are becoming more and more concerned. (potential closure) I hope this fine community can somehow pull together in order to prevent this potential disaster.

Having public meetings at 9:00 AM on a regular workday was inconsiderate and unthoughtful. I hope and pray that this issue can be resolved in order for our community to survive in a lifestyle which it truly deserves. I know that my family, friends, and co-workers appreciate our hospital. We sometimes don't appreciate what we have until one of ours has no medical or emergency healthcare options.

This will be one of the most critical issues that this community may ever face.....I hope for the best. Thanks - Mike Newton

A List of Revolutionary War Veterans

Mike Watson writes:
In response to a query on CM last week, prompted by the Revolutionary War veterans marker on the Courthouse lawn... A list of Revolutionary War veterans who are known to have lived in Adair County. Some lived and died here; some lived here for a time and moved away; some moved here near the end of life. Several resided in Russell County once it was formed. Some lived very near the county lines and are claimed by more than one county, and rightly so. Any additions and corrections to this list will be greatly appreciated.
Note: Click on the article title to view the whole list. We'll be incorporating the names into our List of Adair County Veterans, and we encourage folks to check both lists and then send in any additional information using our Contact Form.
