Kentucky Color - Spring Drought

Nature observer notes unusually dry time in area
Click on headline for item with photo(s)

By Billy Joe Fudge, Retired District Forester
Kentucky Division of Forestry

There have been enough showers to date to keep the grass and crops growing but we are in the midst of an extreme drought. I believe that is one reason we've been seeing snakes moving around as if it were the Dog Days of Summer.

Crocus Creek, just above the Kenneth Bledsoe Road in Southern Adair County is only running an inch deep and four feet wide this last full day of spring. I can't ever remember Crocus being this low in the Spring. -Billy Joe Fudge
