Epicurean Comment: What is needed is fresh potato Curly Q's BJ Fudge can visualize Big Al's Dream of Big Al's (East Columbia) Bar and Grill. What the restaurant needs - what Columbia needs - curly q, deep fried potates made from fresh potatoes! It's a far piece to get them with the current state of bills of fare in local establishments This BJF essay raises another fresh potato question for the ages: Does any remember being the operator of the tiny toothed drum which spun potatoes and peeled them in McDonald's of old? - CM By BJ Fudge, Food Critic I can see it now, a couple of box trailers for dining and cooking with a flat bed for outdoor and patio dining...Alright. Let me know when you open. Also, one suggestion would be curly que, french fried potatoes cooked from fresh potatoes. I drove to Glasgow for years to get them at a Dairy Freeze. The only place locally to get them is at the Bowling Alley in C-ville. They're goooood. - BJF Comments re article 52406 Big Al wants to legalize the sale of alcohol in East Columbia 2012-06-07 20:02:27 | Comments | Printable version

Big Al wants to legalize the sale of alcohol in East Columbia Would consider coming off road to open Big Al's Bar & Grill Big Al Owens writes: I am interested in finding out if anyone who resides in the east Columbiasecition of Columbia would be interested in starting a petition to legalizethe sale of beer in restaurants that seat the legal amount needed to servebeer. I think Columbia has gone long enough without having big namerestaurants even consider our area to locate a franchise due to Columbiabeing a dry territory. We not only lose out on good places to eat, we loseout on tax revenue, and tourism. I will definitely sign a petition and wouldstart one, but my job keeps me out of town quite often. I may evenconsider coming off the road to open Big Al's Bar & Grill if our petitiongathers enough votes to pass. I believe East Columbia would includethe Lindsey Wilson student body, so any students who are interested inhelping our community grow with your help, please make sure you registerto vote in the upcoming election. Any and all help is needed to pull us intothe modern world so we can compete with the surrounding counties. - Big Al OwensPS: Here's my email: allenowens@hotmail.com - Big Al 2012-06-07 11:24:06 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
