Now saves about $30 month on monthly electricity bill Rick Caldwell writes: About three years ago we replaced our light bulbs with the new energy saver neon circular bulbs. We did it over time because they were then expensive at the time. But after they were all replaced, including the porch lights and security spot lights and the electric bill stabilized. We now pay about 30 dollars less a month than we paid in years before - Rick CaldwellComments re article 52394 New type light bulbs can be recycled at Lowes 2012-06-06 21:09:58 | Comments | Printable version
New type light bulbs really are long life Hasn't had to replace any of the bulbs installed four years ago. Appreciates information from Mrs. Kolbenschlag for disposing of them Linda Cook writes: Thanks to Mrs. Kolbenschlag for this info, as I had been wondering how we will dispose of these bulbs if and when they ever burn out. Ronald and I installed this type bulb in every ceiling fan/fixture/lamp almost 4 years ago, and haven't had one to quit yet. They really are long life - I haven't bought another package since these were put in. At one time, Lowes did have a multi-pack that was very economical. (seems it was something like 4 or 6 bulbs for $8) Linda --Linda CookComments re article 52394 New type light bulbs can be recycled at Lowes 2012-06-06 21:06:12 | Comments | Printable version

South Central Printing has recycled since Jerry Vaughan days Program has paid dividends in many ways. It has cut garbage pickups to 40% of pre-recycling days. SCP recycles drink cans and uses the money for special employee meals. The key to successful recycling is to make the process easy. And he asks for more cigarette free businesses, and suggests an old timey way to put the frighteners on anyone daring to toss their butts out the window. To read it all, click on headline for the surprise suggestion. - CM By Ralph Roy Waggener, President South Central Printing Publishers of It's Just for a Smile News South Central Printing, Inc has been recycling paper for several years. Former Adair County Judge Jerry Vaughan was the person who made it happen for us. It took him about four months to get started with our program. We have pickup on a regular bases; we are furnished Lewis boxes (large square cardboard boxes) that are the size of skids and we can load them on to the Recycling Center's pickup truck by forklift. Thanks for all who commented on recycling Linda Waggener writes: I'm grateful to Vonnie Kolbenschlag, Kim Hadley, and Marsha Walker, and to A.L. Sinclair and Lisa Greer, and to Mayor Harris for pointing out that recycling saves city tax dollars. We have so many better places to spend the city's money. It's nice to have the reminders of what a good opportunity we have to recycle batteries as well as all the standard items. It's especially nice to know about the paper shredding options. I do have another question: What's the best way to recycle new style light bulbs? - Linda Waggener 2012-06-06 12:23:08 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
